Ferenz.. no extension for you

It's time to sit down and have another overall program evaluation by the coaches. Send the team out for the slaughter and do it during the second half.

This is a good experience for the guys coming back. It's not like the 09-10 team where they destroyed GA Tech. We'll have a lot of guys back next year hungry and something to prove. Feel bad for the seniors though

Great bounce-back by KF this year, but this was a completely unprepared team for this game, and this is the 4th straight bowl game that the team has looked awful. That is something he needs to fix if he wants this program to progress.

You can't blame Kurt for our lack of talent.... These guys didn't show up to play. Have you seen him.... He's been coaching them up all game, they just can't execute

The big ten west will always be won by a team that has the lucky schedule and doesn't play anybody.

The top three teams are all in the east.

They need to realign.

Agreed with no extension at this time...he's still got four years left on his contract any way. If he meets expectations for next year, which will be in the 10-11 win neighborhood, then sure. Potential loss's to either Iowa State or NDSU and another bowl blowout notwithstanding.

Un frickin believable. We win 12 games and you wine. 3 points from a national championship playoff game. FWIW, Stanford should have been there, they were that good late in the season. Talked to several PAC payers at the game, they were there just to watch McCaffrey. Nobody wanted to play Stanford once they got on a roll.

I knew it was over when they scored on the first play. Our kids didn't quit but we're over matched. I think if we played them in the midwest, would have been closer but Stanford clearly had more talent.

Your team didn't win anything this year. Pathetic effort
Maybe you should learn how to spell FERENTZ before you bash him. If you think the Hawks didn't have a good year or don't win anything unless it's a national title, you need to find another team to root for.

I'd say let's hold off on some crazy extension but some of you think we can get rid of a coach after 12-0? Really?

My hope is we see some more of the changes we saw at the beginning of the year last the entire year in 2016. Just so hard for KF to deviate from his natural conservative ways especially in big spots. To his credit he was much better at times this season.

I said in the other thread a 1 yr rolling extension for as long as he wants. Minimize the buyout, and you are good to go.

You don't extend the contract of a coach who just lost his fourth straight bowl game and a conference championship game. I don't care if he did win 12 games in a row against a soft schedule. I'm all for letting him finish out his contract.

Yes, you need 5 years on the books for recruiting purposes.
I'm not so sure about that; most recruits don't think that far ahead (even with someone whispering it in their ear) and more than a few others honestly feel they'll be off to the NFL after their junior year any way.

Many said just that much in the post-game interviews.

To the OP... You are reason #1 of why social media and smartphones are dooming our society. Iowa finished with 12 wins... The most in school history... And the OP basically says the season was a wash. Guessing the OP is a pretty negative and unhappy dude. Keep on typing!
Threads like these are good for one thing, to take out the trash.

Based loosely on the scenario above, how about this scenario...

We lose to BOTH ISU and NDSU, but then go on another miracle run of 9-0 in the conference and a return trip to the BTCG...lose to tOSU handily, then get an invite back to the RB where we lose, but in a much closer contest?

Does he deserve a long term (4 year or more) extension?

This. Iowa played this game because of their weak schedule. They are no better than the 5th best team in the big 10 +4.

You do realize Iowa was 30 seconds or one stop away from winning the championship?

I'd be fine with an extension, but not a ridiculous long term one. Locking Kirk up for next ~5 years would be good. I think he has earned that. At that point, he may be looking at retirement.
