FIBA Women's AmeriCup

That or all of those other players just really don't like her. Given how they keep trying to antagonize her with how they are all going to LSU I'm not buying the "we're all friends" talk they are trying to tell the public because their actions really don't back that up. All I do know is Caitlyn has handled herself with class on and off the court and has backed up whatever talking she has done on the court with her quality of play.

First I don't think the players get to decide who else is on the team, and its hard to believe that the staff wouldn't have invited Clark. Obviously we don't know, but it would make sense that she might pass given Iowa played all the way to the final game of the year, AND Clark had more pressure on herself then anyone to lead their team.

I also think we're over analizing things that all these transfers are "trying to antagonize her". I think they're all doing what they think is best for themselves, Whether these are good decisions remains to be seen. I still think HVL to LSU could be problematic but I never saw her as a good fit playing with Clark. She's an alpha just like Clark, which is why I could see issues with her and Reese.

The players don't get to decide, but the coaches do and they might be looking at it from a team chemistry issue.

I actually believe your second theory though, that Clark just turned them down so she could take a break/catch up on classwork/whatever reason she would want to not play competitive basketball over the summer.

It's not like she needs it to increase her profile at all. In fact, the attention she gets is exactly why all these other players like to try and antagonize her, or at least seems to be the primary motivating factor for many of the decisions they are making. Even if it isn't, it's the reason they want people to think they are making those choices for.

I don't know. I think as Iowa, (and Clark) fans we're reading too much into this. The only one I've seen who visible made an obvious attempt to antagonize Clark was Reese. I believe that she did that simply to seize the moment and increase her own profile when the opportunity arose. The rest I think did what they did for their own reasons. Even HVL I think is just a strong competitor like Clark and I don't chalk it up to anything more then them competing in the game they played.

Well, obviously they are going there because of money, but that's the world of college sports now so there is no point on complaining about it. Also I suspect that they might be fast and loose with the attendance policies to classes, but I have no proof of anything on that one. They are probably a bunch of "online" classes.

Both Van Lith (2nd team) and Morrow (3rd team) were academic All-Americans this year. So, that might not be the attraction for them.

Maybe they can tutor Reese? :)

I was a little surprised. I did know that HVL had graduated early.
I actually had googled All-American teams from last year, because, as I suspected, you could make a roster of returning women's college basketball players that likely would defeat this tournament's invitees. Either several declined or they are trying to deepen the pool of players with intl experience.
And, my search results included the academic teams and I got to reading them.

Well, I guess if I had already graduated and were transferring I wouldn't care about the academics either.
