This is why Iowa needs to change things up. OSU has far and away the more drawing "WOW" factor. They are passing Iowa up already. TB needs an upper weight technician coach like my suggestion Dake.
Iowa just landed 3 quality transfers at need weights? Figs is also going 133.
You started a thread about Figs going to Okie State (even though there is a portal thread pinned to the top) and then go on a rant about needing an upper weight coach to replace Bobby and give Dake as an "upperweight" example. Well at least you have all the weights covered.
Figs. Who didn't do jack shit this past year. Now he is wrestling 133 where we have the best guy. What exactly are you complaining about op?

I just don't understand how Mineo reports Iowa was accused of tampering by WVU, but Figs has been reported to OSU days before he hits the portal.
Let's just call a spade a spade, the NCAA tournament is like Black Friday and all the coaches go shopping. They should open up the portal before the post season.
To be fair, Figs to Iowa was a rumor months ago. Not to say it was credible, but there is a ton of hearsay all around.
Don't worry...Pritts will find a way to blame Iowa.
Right and those rumors came from him talking to guys like Ybarra and former teammates Parco and Teemer - and it was never a commitment, just conversations about possibility. Not sure who Figs is confiding in on the OSU roster. If he lands at Iowa, then you can be fair and state it could be tampering or other plausible scenarios. But if he lands at OSU like reported, then they should get accused of tampering until there's an explanation. How can wrestling journalists report that he's likely landing at OSU and not explain how they never asked the question, "How can that be, he's not in the portal?" And, if OSU's new general manager of NIL has been contacted, that's an official university title, unlike Mr Nichols or others at Iowa.

Well if you haven’t noticed Mineo gets off reporting anything that is negative about Iowa. Wvu pretty much came out and accused Iowa of tampering tho. Has ASU done the same? Mineo’s life goal is to troll Iowa tho so it is what it is.
Replacing Bobby would be a heavyweight coach. I'm thinking about the 165 - 197 weights where until transfer Stephen, Iowa hadn't had a champion in 15 years. That is a GLARING problem.

Yet their AA rate is pretty damn solid, with multiple Finalists. Until recently, they hadn't been landing top 10 recruits in that area, with the exception of Warner starting it off and Kemerer(who was really only at 149 to start). NOW, the HEART of their lineup is 165-285. Angelo is a very likely champ before his career is over. Ludington and Kueter are elite recruits. Hell, so are Kennedy and Arnold.
You are complaining, yet the current roster has the VERY BEST at this weight range that they have EVER had under Brands...

15 years is a long drought only broken by a hired gun. Why hasn't Iowa drawn top recruits in the weight range? Answer - they need someone with "pop" to their name and that is a great technician. The current coaching staff doesn't excite kids that weight range. Now, it has change a bit recently. Money changes attitudes. I do appreciate bnichols doing what he can under the current format to bring about a change. Now, go get a coach that excites the recruits and is a proven top notch wrestler.

Did you even read what I typed? They brought in Caliendo at 165 and he has taken 3rd and 2nd, since. Kennedy is a top 5 lb4lb recruit, Arnold is a top 10 lb4lb recruit, Angelo is a NUMBER ONE lb4lb recruit, Ludington is a top 15 lb4lb recruit and Kueter is a NUMBER ONE lb4lb recruit.
Not sure what you want, but even PSU isn't beating that....as far as bringing in recruits with POP......
Warner was a top recruit. 4x AA and finalist. While not a champ tgat is production from a top 10 guy.
I was talking about a coach. Iowa is bringing much better heavier weight recruits now because money is on the table. They still need an upper weight coach that will get recruits excited like Dake. Morningstar is a great guy but doesn't have the draw or accomplishment that excites the kids.
Has Dake recruited or coached at all?? Or even expressed that he has a desire to do so? What makes you so sure he's the guy we need? His name alone?

I believe he said recently he saw how much time the PSU staff puts in and that’s not really for him. Not a quote at all, just the jist of what he had to say on coaching in the future. He was definitely in the corner for some of the Cornell guys years ago, but was not living the full time coaching lifestyle which certainly isn’t for everyone.
