Finally!!

It seems like forever since the Purdue game for some reason . Can't wait for tip off.

I think Michigan will be a very strong test....excellent and experienced PG, outside shooters, and an emerging inside game.

I do not think this is the toughest game of the year, but it is a pivotal one. Winning the home games is crucial. And winning this one early in the B1G is essential for building this young Hawkeye team's confidence. They are all big games, but winning this one would be big for the season... Let's start a winning streak!

Happy New Year!

Go Hawks!

The next two games will go a long way towards deciding our tourney fate, along with Maryland, OSU, and northwestern.

Beating Michigan today and winning at Nebraska would be worth about 40 spots of RPI. Lose both and we are virtually done.

If Michigan shoots over 40 percent from 3, I feel Iowa loses if they shoot under the Iowa wins.

Iowa has to play good D in this game because we will score and Michigan lives and dies by the 3 ball. Teams like Michigan are hard to know going in if we won or lose.

We could win by 20 or lose by 20 let's see if we see agressive D and that will be the key to victory. Go hawks!

Hope everyone had a happy new year! To 2017 being a better year, let's hope!!

We have got to show we can defend our home court and beat a team with a pulse. An 0-2 start would be devastating, and an 0-3 start is unthinkable. We need to show a ton of improvement, make some shots and play some D.

I have a feeling that every win will have to be scratched and clawed for. No easy runaway victories.

Today starts the learning process of how we have to protect home floor. It gives us a path to our 'easiest" wins. Get one here and one on the road, preferably in a tough place, and build from there.

I think Iowa would be stronger with Ellingson starting instead of Moss.... I like Moss... but he's still green.

but really... we need better play from Pemsl and Uhl.

I think the referees had a lot to do with Pemsl's bad numbers against Purdue, so I'm not too worried... but every game is going to be a dog fight.... that's the way it is every single year...

but of course, when the referees are out of control like they were last game, there's nothing you can do.

let's just hope we have a competitive game at half time.

Disagree. I think at this point the season depends on Moss succeeding as a starter- not only for his O to take outside pressure off Jok, but for his D. Our perimeter D is going to live and die with Moss this year.

Since Jok refuses to play D with the consistency that is needed, and Bohannon just does not have the quickness, I will agree that Moss' defense is our key to the season.

Stopping or at least deterring opposing guards at the college level is what we need to done to succeed. Good guard play is needed to win championships. And not just scoring. Defense is where it's at!

Agree with Moss defense being needed. And I think Dailey has the quickness and length to be a good defender.

Speaking of Moss, where was he during the second half? I know Williams was hurt or sick as he made several trips to tunnel in second half, but Moss was missing in action for all but the start of the second half. Was this just another one of Fran's brain farts when he forgets about players? Fran's poor coaching in the last four minutes of the game nearly cost us big time. He had 6 seconds on the shot clock, ball out of bounds in front of his bench and three timeouts left in the overtime period. Instead of using the timeout to get everyone on the same page and get just a bit of rest as they were tired, he just yelled out something that turned in to the pass being thrown right to a Michigan player who went down for layup. 6 seconds is at least two passes so you have plenty of options, but Fran and staff lack the coaching ability to work something up

Just love soaking up all the BB knowledge from all the experts on this board!

Happy New Year everybody. Let's ring in the new year with a big and crucial Hawkeye victory against Michigan. I think we will win this one. Go Hawks!

Well, MI shot 34% from 3 so you were right. Iowa shooting almost 58% from 3 helped too.

I agree. Michigan had a bunch of 3pt shooters that didn't drive that much. Seton Hall exposed our perimeter defense and taking our guys of the dribble. Baer/Jok/JayBo were not able to defend perimeter. Ellingson is slower/has less length than Baer....Moss gives us a perimeter guy with quicker feet and length.
