So I took my British friend’s dad, Billy, to the game yesterday. He is visiting in the States and has never watched an American football game before, much less been to one in person. So he was asking me why after three plays, both teams ran out 11 new players and then Iowa kicked the ball. Then both teams ran out 11 new players. Then the other team ran three plays. Then both teams ran out 11 new players and the other team kicked the ball to Iowa. Rinse and repeat over and over for a sixty minute game that takes 4 hours to play. So on the way home he asks me in his Irish brogue, "So Mate, explain to me again what a touchdown is."
