First-ever women’s meet….

with the timeline of hiring coaches this fall, recruiting and team on campus next fall, full collegiate competition in 2023, will we see the women's team competing under the HWC banner next year?

How many scholarships will be available (full or partial)? How many weight classes and the different weights?

I'm assuming it will be 9.9 just like the men (probably stated in the presser but I'm not reading thru all that again). Blair Sanderson posted it on this site somewhere.

From what I have seen from an Augsburg article (DIII school in Minneapolis which most here probably know they have a real good Men's program), looks like they do 10 weight classes and wrestle Freestyle. 101, 109, 116, 123, 130, 136, 143, 155, 170 and 191. That's from the WCWA, which I assume is the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (sounds good to me anyway!).

…let’s fill the place. Sell out the arena. That’d be an awesome show of support. I think we could do it if they really promote it.
Right on...how about this idea to go with yours...make the ticket price high enough to put some wind in the sails of the new program.

Or...provide the option for those that choose to do so to "pay up".

Your $ would be better spent donating directly to the women’s wrestling program than having a high ticket price. Ticket revenue is tracked to a sport just like the expenses for reporting purposes, but that revenue doesn’t sit there for them to use. Like almost all sports they won’t make a profit anyway. Fund raised $ however will have a MOU that says your $ needs to be spent in support of the women’s wrestling program specifically. Guessing they will have their first dual before a men’s dual for exposure.

My guess only, but to kick things off to help build tradition…
It would be best to have the women wrestle before the men.

then they get to wrestle in front of an environment that they wouldn’t normally see.
Great for recruiting as well for both the women’s and men’s programs.

I think it’d be really cool to line up a match for a couple of the HWC women during intermission of a dual.

But I also agree, let’s sell out the first women’s dual.

OK, that makes sense. I just think it is great that Iowa is doing this and I want to support the effort.
