Although I thought for the most part the officiating was decent in the IU game, that call with about 17min left against Woody was a joke!
Terrible call there. Major flop! Unbelievable that was called offensive! Not much else to say there but that was just flat out ridiculous

Yes, it was a flop, but woody made it easy to call.
Yep he did lower his shoulder, but the defender started his fall before woodbury made contact.

But there was also a charge right before that on Ferrell against Gessell. So they off-set each other.

I realize it would be a total judgment call, but I would like to see refs start to "T" guys up for the more egregious flops. This was obviously a flop--they'd let more contact go uncalled prior to that. I agree as pointed out, that Woody lowered the shoulder, but the guy was already on his way to the floor before he did it.
The T White got for hanging on the rim was a judgment call (which I didn't have a problem with BTW) so why not flops? Sorry but a guy the size of the Indiana dude isn't going to get knocked back that bad by anyone, let alone AW.

Can't do that in the flow of the game. NBA has fines and that won't work in NCAA. However, I would like to see suspensions. People will stop flopping in a hurry.

Almost every one is a flop. All players do it. It is selling the call. Part of the game. Some just look foolish is all.

Dakich called a flop and made no bones about how disgusting it was as Woody was already making a move upward before making any contact, Refs need to start calling blocking fouls on those or nothing at all, the NCAA needs to start changing it to a T, as was mentioned the NBA fines players for flopping.

the NCAA CANNOT fine but they can make it a T with the possibility of a 1 game suspension for the player AND the coach.

if the coach knows he can be suspended for a game as well. the flopping would come to a screeching halt.

not because it happened to Woody BUT because it happens all across the college scene, all the flop does is reward piss poor defenses with a cheap foul. this college BB not college ACTING school.

Make-up calls are a disgusting part of the game. My gf (no pics) is still amazed when I can predict a ticky-tack foul or turnover (three-second) before they happen. Thanks for your predictable garbage calls, refs.

Why wasn't this thread started after some flop happened during some game somewhere else or an article on an increased amount of flops in college acting school college?

This thread was started because Woodbury fell victim to a flop not because someone posted a montage of flops from across the college basketball world.

You put your shoulder down you might get called, so what?

watch some of the other games Dakich has made numerous complaints about this, also it happened to MG, he makes a move to the basket and the player flops and MG NEVER makes contact. UNI makes this a common practice. it got to the point where some were calling it the UNI Flop.

like I said a poor defenders cheap trick to draw a charge, watch the game again and you can clearly see Woody was already going up when the defender flopped backward when little or no contact was made.

Flops suck. However for every flop, there are a lot more players that dribble out of control and jump on a defender and get bailed out by a ref.

Yeah the worst call I have seen was in the PSU game.

#1 when #33 goes up for rebound and jumps on the back of woodie knocking him to the ground and Woodbury gets called for the foul.

#2 when DJ new bill grabbed AW arm and pulled him down and they gave the foul to #13 instead of Newbill. How could you not see that?

You know what would stop flopping in a heartbeat? Some big guy like Adam Woodbury coming down with his knee in the flopper's nuts. That flopping is not BS but its dangerous because it makes for more out of control falling.

Totally agree, the guy flopped before Woody even reached him on the drive. It was a terrible call.

Come one...Woody is not going to do that. He's going to poke an eye before he knees someone in the nuts.

He did flop, but Woody lowered his shoulder and it just looked bad. Not an official in the country who would not have called that charge.

How about some of the officials that know when the tv timeout is due. They make some chickenshit call 30 feet from the basket to stop the clock. Not all do it but i do notice it in a lot of games. Maybe they are just tired.

There are several questionable calls every game...

Why is this an issue?

Play better...take the refs out of the final result...

Ah! This thread just allows woody haters to blame him in someway. It's undeniable.

+1 College basketball has become a game of makeup calls. The worst part is they don't know how to do it like in the NBA. I can understand a 50/50 ball that was deflected out of bounds and giving it to the team you just screwed over on the prior possession but you can't call a phantom foul as a makeup b/c that affects the game too much between getting the player in foul trouble and getting the other team closer to the bonus.
