Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) will headline the Republican National Committee’s fall retreat in Orlando this weekend — an event that, while being held in Donald Trump’s home state, does not feature the former president in its lineup.
According to the event’s schedule, DeSantis and his wife Casey will be Friday night’s special guests as the event kicks off. While DeSantis hasn’t made any announcements, he is widely seen as a potential GOP presidential candidate in 2024, along with the former president.
Republican figures also listed in the lineup include National Republican Senate Committee Chair Sen. Rick Scott (Fla.) and a number of GOP Senate nominees, including Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Blake Masters, who’s running in Arizona.
The event, which will go on through Saturday, features sessions detailing the GOP’s midterm strategy and an opportunity for participants to meet candidates. Kellyanne Conway, a senior aide to Trump, is scheduled to speak on polling on Saturday. She is, perhaps, the closest Trump ally to participate in the retreat.
