***** Florida International transfer guard Ashton Williamson commits to Iowa***** Update:*****Ashton Willliamson will NOT be playing for Iowa*****

So you didn't support the Lickliter teams either. Gotcha.

Doesn't sound like McCollum agrees with you either. While he acknowledges the importance of winning, he points out that the best fanbases show up regardless. And he is asking fans to show up BEFORE the team has achieved success.

Better crowds last season would have led to at least 2 more home wins, IMO
The Lickliter years were the only stretch of my life when I couldn’t bring myself to watch every Iowa game. If you somehow managed to sit through every one he coached, it might be time to consider a new hobby. Honestly, I’d have preferred two straight hours of scrubbing dishes over watching that brand of basketball. It was painfully brutal.

I have never not been entertained by a Hawkeye sporting event. Why would I find a new hobby?

In case you do, I recommend this one.

Well, that was short lived.
Not as if he was a great get, but made sense as a ball handler/distributor to back up Stirtz.
Pay for play era is making it really interesting setting up a roster.

I was giving this guy the benefit of the doubt because pg is McCollums area of expertise but his shooting percentage was garbage last year.

Why? He bailed period. Maybe some other place offered more $
Yes, that's certainly possible.

I was specifically replying to Tailgate's reasoning that Williamson left because another guard was coming.

I wouldn't want a lot of the guys that would solely leave for that reason anyway. Most kids aren't going to run from competition that easily. And a lot of guys welcome the most talent possible. Multiple guards can play. I would assume Williamson felt he's good enough to play, regardless of who's on the roster

He didn't score much either so not even a volume scorer.

He obviously had some talent and I'm sure Ben would have helped him tremendously.
I agree with you. I was looking forward to Ben working with him for the next few years. A defensive stopper to shut down the other teams point guards, would be nice to have, and he looked to have the quicks to do it.

Instead of waiting for the ghost administration of the NCAA to regulate something that involves NIL, each institution would be remiss if t hey didn’t start regulating things themselves. Be as stringent or liberal as you’d like, but put something in place. A contract that reflects expectations and commitment, with deterrents and penalties, just like parenting, if that still exists.

I, personally, believe NIL shouldn’t be accessed until the year or career is done. With possible dispursements for sensible expenditures. Like some signing bonuses.

Or put a limit on access the first year?

Sounds nice, but any school doing that is handicapping themselves.
