I just don't understand the draw to innocent children. My mind can't quite comprehend this level of evil. A "normal" inclination is to protect children; it's literally a natural instinct and this $hit goes directly against it.

When Florida deputies arrested Jonathan Hernandez for allegedly possessing child porn, they were expecting to find more. But what authorities uncovered was jaw-dropping — even for them.

“At that time, we told you the investigation was just getting started and there would likely be more charges,” the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office posted via Facebook. “What we should have said was there would likely be A LOT more charges — like more than anyone in our county ... ever.”

Hernandez now faces more than 1,180 counts of child pornography and four counts of bestiality images. The 23-year-old is being held on a $2.4 million bond; deputies note he has enough charges to possibly see a life sentence.

The sheriff’s office first started investigating into Hernandez back in August, when a cybertip about internet crimes against kids came in from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Through a search warrant, detectives found child porn on his Discord account, a instant messaging application.
He was arrested on these findings Dec. 29 when deputies searched his Avon Park home and discovered 15 electronic devices.
Jonathan Hernandez faces over 1,100 charges of child porn possession and Highland County deputies have dubbed his collection the largest they’ve seen.

At the time, he was only charged with two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmitting child pornography, and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

While out on bond, detectives gathered enough evidence — on just one of the 15 devices — to charge Hernandez with an additional 1,182 counts of child porn possession.

“There is no telling how many charges he could face if detectives went through all the devices,” the sheriff’s office said. ”Detectives say Hernandez’s collection of child porn is the largest they have ever seen.”

He was arrested again on Wednesday stemming from the latest charges. Once the other devices are searched, Hernandez’s case could culminate in one of the largest involving child porn possession in state history.

These are awful news. I can't believe there are such monsters in our world! I hope h gets what he deserves. Pedfilia is the worst thing I can imagine; it's lower than sin. I don't know how you could watch innocent children do that. There are many other places where you can watch adult videos legally (like yadong.cam). So, it's better to use such sources.

I always feel sorry for the cops and prosecutors who have to investigate and work these cases. It's a dirty, dingy thing to have to sift through the evidence, and work the case.

Especially when there is so damn much.

Someone had to go look at all 1,180 files to make sure they were children so they could count up how many charges they were going to prosecute him with.

At some point you have to think they could say "Yeah we have enough here to put him away for life. We don't need to keep counting."

Like they just said this was 1 of 15 devices. Do we even need to check the other devices? Or can we just say this is enough to put him away for the rest of his life, let's do that and call it a day. What's the difference between 1180 counts and 6722 (number I just made up) counts. It's all the same. Prison for life

This dude was either a defective human from the day he was born or he was subjected to molestation as a child by some very sick people and it’s affected him in a permanent way.
Either way he’s not ever going to be a good human and either separated from society, or put down like a rabid dog.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. Every single file needs to be forensically verified, labeled, cataloged, and recorded in accordance with chain of custody requirements. You boys have no idea what’s out there. And trust me, you don’t want to know.

Not only that, but they are trying to identify victims to help, and also identify additional pervs to nail.

Do they do photo comparisons against missing children database?

Remember when that college prof wanted to label these people as 'minor attracted adults' to get rid of the negative stigma? Wonder what he is doing these days.

My wife's uncle retired from the police department after 15 years in the vice/child sex crime squad. It fvcked him up permanently. Slept about 4 hours a day because of nightmares.

Sad.

Well, I think I do know what’s out there, which is why I made my post about feeling sorry for the people who have to slog through it all.

I don't think I know or want to know. Some think it's like 14-17 year olds willingly doing these things and that it's not that big of a deal.

I am naive but not naive enough to know know that isn't what's going on here.

This dude is in for a long life in prison... as he should.

He should be but guys like him usually have “unfortunate things” occur and they meet an early death.
