Iowa needs to play clean. But, Kaleb J had a 5.7 yard per carry avg against a top defense which was good. But being behind made so he didnt get even 20 carries.

Cade had a 70% completion rate which we would have died for last year.

Upcoming foes are not near as good as OSU. OSU QB completed 84% and our lack of pass rush is concerning against passing teams.

This is what Kirk does to people. Look, Ohio St turned the ball over twice in the first half as well, and it didn’t stop them from playing aggressively. I get that they’re the most talented team in the country. People were acting like 7-0 was a win. We had 4 first downs at half. It’s just unacceptable year after year to keep playing like this. Kirk showed the Country He is either a coward or senile, that is all that happened Yesterday , He Coached to keep the game close and not win and He showed that by not fully committing to getting 2 feet at the 49 and using 2 TOs to fully let it sink in how much of a pussy He was to the Country, He showed gross incompetence not going to Sullivan in the 2nd half when it was shown in the 1st half the run game would not work if the safeties and backside defenders could all just flow to Johnson and have no backside assignments. and truthfully Sullivan is better in the pass game , he showed Himself to be a B1G starting level QB last Year , Cade has not shown Himself to be a starting level QB since pre injury Michigan, The Kid is cooked.

I agree with you that there is no reason to be so conservative especially when a big underdog. I have always thought Kirk is too conservative. You have to keep drives alive in some games, really every game, but if you are ahead by 17 you punt.

But dont say to me this is what Kirk does to me. I know of his warts and I have called out his poor decision making for years, like going for a 2 pt conversion against Iowa St this year. I immediately called that out as a stupid call especially when the first two times we had the ball inside the 5 yard line and 1 yard line we couldnt get it in on 6 tries.

I was really down on Kirk in 2006 and '07 and have always thought his style losses him 1-2 victories a year. But you cant argue about his overall success. I entered in the game thread early yesterday to just relax and no sense getting nervous unless we are still in the game midway in the 4th qtr

Gettting smoked in big games is now expected , he gives them no chance to win using the exact game plan the opponent is preparing for all week.

2. Officials giving OSU a first down on replay on their first touchdown drive. Thought that was questionable.

Again though - Nobody had real hopes of winning yesterday b/c of the bold words above….We wanted to be “close” or just do some good things that would make us think “Oh Cool. That was fun.”

We forced two turnovers and STILL remained a dogshit offense. Again.

The glimmer of hope that I have is that Lester coached in the MAC against teams like Michigan where he was the underdog and playing with less talent. So maybe given the opportunity and better resources, well who knows. On defense, I don't know. Maybe if we hold onto the ball longer??? But are we putting to much stock in that notion? I mean what about games where 2 teams both keep going 3 and out and forcing each other to punt? Their defenses are out there a lot too are they not? I mean if you are going to get into a low scoring slug fest, you had better be prepared to go the distance. Again, I missed the game yesterday and have not had a chance to really even read or watch anything about it, BUT I want to ask, did we even force OSU to kick a FG once??

Even attempting the fake punt was ridiculously stupid. If you can’t get a half yard with Sullivan behind center, then GTF off of the field because you don’t belong there.

I saw his press conference and I understand his calling a TO because the linebackers inching up BUT….after the timeout run out Sullivan in the red zone offense that’s worked so well this year and go for it.

A HS QB hits that pass , Wetjen had His Guy beat by 5 Yards , that was a TD for sure, As soon as that happened and Iowa was stopped the Game felt lost . You cannot miss that throw at any level of football and certainly not against the #3 Team in the Country on the road, Iowa goes up 7-0 OSU instantly has to play with more stress, OSU was not stressed the entire Game . Marshall put more stress on OSU than Iowa did .
