In our following the future update, we take a look each week during the season at how Iowa's commits are doing on the field, including our performance of the week. Join us throughout the season as we watch their progress and get ready for the future of Hawkeye football.

Performance of the week

Barrington Wade had an absolutely huge game on Saturday, finishing with 25 carries for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns in Niles North's 52-27 win over Niles West. Wade also had a 17-yard touchdown reception on a screen pass in the game as well. Through 3 games, Wade has 60 carries for 666 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.



Other notable performances

In a game televised by ESPNU on Friday night, running back Toks Akinribade showed his skills with 28 carries for 206 yards, including an explosive 79-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. However, his Brownsburg team could not keep up with Avon's offense led by Michigan QB commit Brandon Peters and suffered a 56-21 loss in the game. Through 4 games, Akinribade has 79 carries for 471 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Running back Toren Young had another big game with 29 carries for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns in Monona Grove's 27-3 win over Reedsburg on Friday night. Through 4 games, Young has 101 carries for 753 yards and 7 touchdowns this season.

Amani Hooker, who usually plays wide receiver, filled in at quarterback for Park Center this week with their starter out due to injury and threw for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns. On defense, he added 6 tackles and an interception, but it was not enough as Park Center lost to Robbinsdale Armstrong by a score of 44-26.

Quarterback Nathan Stanley was 7/7 passing for 146 yards and added 5 carries for 22 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground in Menomonie's 48-14 win over Hudson on Friday night. Through 4 games, Stanley has completed 24 of 42 pass attempts for 582 yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson had 8 catches for 90 yards and 1 touchdown in Chariton's 35-21 win over Saydel on Friday night. Through 3 games, Hockenson has 27 catches for 359 yards and 7 touchdowns this season.

Noah Fant had 9 catches for 55 yards and 1 touchdown in Omaha South's 70-7 loss to Bellevue West on Friday. On defense, Fant recorded 2 TFL, including 1 sack. Through 3 games, Fant has 23 catches for 230 yards and 4 touchdowns this season.

Lance Billings had another big week with 18 catches for 167 yards and 1 touchdown, but it was not enough as Lorain Clearview lost to Dalton 13-12 on Friday.

Kristian Welch had 105 yards rushing, including a 75-yard touchdown in Iola-Scandinavia's 47-6 win over Shiocton on Friday night.

Nick Niemann had 5 catches for 117 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown, but it was not enough as Sycamore lost to Crete-Monee 27-21 in overtime on Friday.

Devonte Young came up big with a 32-yard punt return for a touchdown that accounted for all the scoring in North Point's 7-0 win over Lackey on Saturday.

Offensive lineman Spencer Williams led the way upfront as Cedar Falls racked up 259 yards on offense in their 33-13 win over Mason City on Friday and improved to 3-0 on the season.

Two-way lineman Cole Banwart had 4 tackles and 1.5 TFL in Algona's 35-28 win over Greene County on Friday as they improved to 3-0 on the season.

Class of 2017 defensive end commit Coy Kirkpatrick had 5 tackles for Madrid in their 48-0 win over Southeast Hamilton on Friday. Through 3 games, Kirkpatrick has 14 tackles, 3.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks this season.

Last, but not least, wide receiver Frank Darby finally began his senior season this weekend and had 3 catches for 68 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown in Jersey City Lincoln's 50-7 win over Caldwell. Darby also had a couple other catches, including a second touchdown, called back due to penalty, which you can see in the video linked below.
