-Capitalism, must thrive, and it must be available and obtainable to each and every American in this country. Do you want balance? Then you have to provide the opportunity for everyone to raise their capital. Want the Oligarchies to fall? Then you have to provide them with opposition, true opposition, that can balance out the markets. If you continue to socialize everything, you will continue to take that opposition away.
Why? Because socialism doesn't do a F'N thing to break down the already established Oligarchies. It simply remolds the poor to upper middle class portions of our society, until they are all simply middle class. <-----That's not a good thing!!!

-Understanding of foreign policy amongst the people. Once the people understand what really goes on in our negotiations with other countries, and you will see an increase of participation, and opposition to unjust wars, money going overseas, etc.

-less emphasis on racism, and more emphasis on racial harmony. Stop focusing on the negative, and the positive will have it's time in the sun. Keep focusing on the negative, and the clouds of racial disparity will continue to evoke its shadow amongst the populace.

-Stop penalizing people for choices. Don't throw them in jail for smoking marijuana, stop criminalizing drug use, and see it more of as a health threat. Stop trying to come up with new ways to charge people with crimes, that are already under the law of penalty if broken.(hate crimes)

Capitalism that is available and obtainable to everyone is called socialism in this country. Glad to have you onboard.

No, we haven't seen true Captialism in this country for decades, maybe longer in this country. I say, its time to give it the time to shine.

True capitalism would never be available and attainable to everyone as you describe. That guarantee of opportunity you want is socialist thinking, or at least its what we call it here in the US.

No, the ability to fail and succeed is something all Americans have an ability to get to. Socialism is obtained, by simply not having a job.

So maybe both are easily obtainable, but only one of those gives you personal pride, satisfaction, and can help you provide and give back to the community.

The other one, just kind of sucks the life out of the community.

You know what's fun? The CATO Institute disagrees with you. :p

Cato was always second fiddle to the Green Hornet. They promote individual liberty, free markets, and other types of things.

How does ol' Cato disagree with me?

True Socialism is a Unicorn.

Every time you show a progressive a Socialist government that has failed they say "That's not the kind of Socialism i'm talking about!"

"I'm talking about the kind that works"

Capitalism is equality of opportunity and socialism is equality of outcomes. Neither is 100% available but governments job in each system is try and come as close as humanly possible.

I know you saw the thread where they list the most free countries in the world. It has a decidedly socialist bent.

Nope, socialism is the one thats sets the level table for all to eat from. Thats called equality of opportunity. Capitalism isn't about equality at all, where did you get that idea? Its specifically about inequality.

Just like CATO :D

I'm loving that.

Obama does not like freedom. He wants America fail and turn into a third world nation.

Oh no! Those freedoms being taken away again! Has OP listed what "freedoms" he has lost in his lifetime?

As with everything else, it is an argument about theory. Are you saying people aren't still claiming to failed GOP economic policies that should work in theory?

Usually people defending "socialism" are pointing out that the USSR was not a nation utilizing socialist ideals, it was a totalitarian, basically theocracy, except the government was the religion. People claiming that Bernie Sanders is somehow comparable to Soviet philosophy are either liars or idiots.

There are hundreds of other examples of failed Socialist States. USSR get's picked on due to approximate size and long time policy.

There is not guarantee that Bernie's brand of Trickle-Down Government wouldn't morph into the same USSR flavor overtime.

I agree, but USSR was not "socialist", at least not to people discussing socialism who aren't your angry old uncle or Fox News.

THAT is why people argue that "that isn't socialism", not because it "failed", but because it wasn't f****** socialism.

Socialism isn't just collectivization.
