He has Iowa's first loss @ Northwestern. He also predicts Michigan will beat Northwestern, Michigan State, and Ohio State?

Thoughts?

That's not unreasonable. I'd actually question the Michigan State and Ohio State picks more. While Michigan is clearly better than they were in past years, especially on defense, MSU and OSU will not play against Michigan the same way they played against Purdue and Indiana. I'm not sure when MSU and Michigan play, but OSU and Michigan play the last game and Ohio State usually is playing the best football of the year at that point.

Michigan will not beat NW, MSU and OSU.

NW, sure I can see that. MSU is not as good defensively (Narduzzi gone) and offensively for that matter, but still is pretty good. OSU is bored to tears waiting for the B10 championship game. Once focused, they'll crush every B10 team in their way.

Writers only post articles saying stuff like that to generate hits. Lots of hits to be had in Michigan I bet...and Ohio - and Michigan is the hot lookie here story in the B10 right now.

Can't really argue, all of these teams appear to be stronger on defense than offense. Look for few points and all of these games going down to the last minutes! Michigan has ton of talent and finally a coach that knows what to do with it, Should be interesting.

Michigan is ranked higher than MSU in quite a few computer rankings, and the game is in Ann Arbor. I'm surely picking UM.

Michigan over Michigan State i can see but I still don't think it will happen because of Rudock. They won't beat OSU.

Michigan has not needed to pass to win since Utah...we know how that worked out for them. Those defenses will force JR to throw...unlikely they win either of those games. Our first loss could be this week, overlooking Ill would be a mistake!

No sense in picking games out in the future when based on injuries this year you are not sure who you will be facing. Michigan and Northwestern will be one tough and physical game. What happens if NW starting RB or QB gets hurt. Same can be said for some critical Michigan players. I will wait and see how Iowa and Northwestern come OUT of their games before picking that game. For now, this week, give me the Hawks and Michigan.

Michigan has a good D and a nice running game. Ruddock although a decent QB isn't anywhere near the reason they are winning. If the game falls on his shoulders and he needs to make a play or carry this team....It ain't happening.

It's amazing how bad people try to make blue bloods like Michigan appear to be better than they really are year after year....

I believe Northwestern will beat Michigan because they will stop Big Blues running game and Jake will have to step up. With Jake having to step up it will look like the Utah game all over again.

Iowa can't afford to look pass Illinois because just not sure how good Iowa is and Illinois is not as bad as they were last yr.

Rankings-wise Michigan had a better defense than MSU last year. I could certainly see them beating MSU this year.

Computers are cute. But not terribly accurate. Try betting (even the straight up games) using their rankings. Actually.. don't, that's a bad idea.

No computer picked Purdue to be competitive with Michigan State last week. Or Indiana to compete with OSU.

And how many humans picked Purdue and Indiana to take MSU and OSU down to the wire?

If I were going to bet on football games and I could use either human opinion or computer rankings, I would use computer rankings every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I'd challenge you to track the Sagarin predictor ratings vs. the human polls and report back which one the Vegas lines align with more.

The thing about Michigan is what people have been saying and what we saw last week. Stave and Ruddock are a lot alike. They are quite good throwing the ball in the middle of the field. Make them throw to the numbers and their accuracy is off. One other thing, Knock them on their ass a couple times or force a fumble and they start looking around. Also, the wind blows more in October and November. All the things I mentioned are why Michigan will struggle later in the year.
