No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

I think that portion is malleable enough to apply to trump's actions.

He can't be allowed to run again....he simply can't. For the good of the country...

I used to think the following statement was hyperbolic, now I am not so sure.

"If Trump runs and wins again, that is the end of America as we know it"

No, it's still hyperbolic, but I do think there could be an argument for the "given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

It would have to be a legit proceeding with 2 sides, unlike what we have with the current hearings, but I think there's a path for it.

I do think Rs may be wise to take the opportunity to eliminate him from running. However, they still need his supporters to show up to vote, and that my prevent them from taking such action lightly.

I think it would be a very good way to put an end to all of this and begin to move forward. I have my doubts that there are the numbers in both chambers however to get it passed.
