Former Hawk Diaco signs 2 yr extension at UCONN

He recently hired "Soup" Campbell to his staff...Former longtime Hayden ast-Don Patterson(79-98)-retired off of Diaco's staff in January..

Think it is a little early to label Diaco a "mediocre" coach... He was a semi finalist for the ast coach of the year award(Broyles award) in 2011 and won it in 2012. The Huskies had a 4 game improvement in wins,in his second year...

Wow. A mediocre coach at a mediocre football school makes that kind of coin. Good for him

The biggest surprise in all this: "The next highest-paid state employee is Dr. Hanspaul Makkar, a dermatologist at UConn Health, who was paid just over $1.2 million during the 2015 fiscal year."

Jerry: How's the life saving business?

Sara: It's fine.

Jerry: It must take a really really big zit, to kill a man!

Sara: What is with you?

Jerry: You call yourself a lifesaver. I call you pimple popper MD!

[A man comes to the table.]

Parry: Dr. Sitarides?

Sara: Mr. Parry, how are you?

Parry: I just wanted to thank you again for saving my life.

Jerry: She saved your life?

Parry: I had skin cancer.

Jerry: Skin cancer! Damn.

I wish him all the success in the world, but this quote is the perfect example of what is wrong in the world and more importantly how America views sports.

"The announcement about Diaco's contract was made three days after state lawmakers included $46 million in cuts to the university and its health center in a $19.7 billion state budget that attempts to fix a projected $960 million deficit."

I don't care what side of the political spectrum you're on, we spend too much on coaching.

How much money do those football programs make? Generally the football program is the bell cow and the money maker. So those coaches that make all that money are also "making" money for the universities. A state deficit really isn't relative to what a college football coach makes

Find a state (with a D1 school) where the HC of the state university is not the highest paid state employee
