Cole Erickson (Mediapolis, Iowa/Mediapolis) was the only top-three finisher to qualify for the NCAA National Championships.
Erickson had a bye into the quarterfinals before beating Dubuque's Greg Krulas 3-1. In the semifinals, two-time defending National Champion Kenny Martin of Wartburg beat Erickson by fall in 2:13. Erickson bounced back with a 5-3 win over Millikin's Randle Taborn in the consolation semifinals. In the third place match, Erickson won by fall over Augustana's Matt Sears in 3:44 to lock up his spot at the NCAA National Championships. Erickson enters the NCAA National Championships with an 11-6 record on the year.
