Former Ravens cheerleader sentenced to 48 weekends in jail for raping 15-year-old boy

Molly Shattuck, the former Baltimore socialite and Ravens cheerleader who pleaded guilty in June to fourth-degree rape after an incident involving a 15-year-old boy, was sentenced to 48 weekends in jail on Friday afternoon in Delaware. The 48-year-old woman will spend every other weekend in jail over the next two years and be required to register as a sex offender in Delaware for the next 25 years, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Shattuck, who gained fame as the NFL’s oldest cheerleader at age 38, was arrested in November and charged with rape and unlawful sexual contact with a 15-year-old boy who was a classmate of her son at the McDonogh School in suburban Baltimore. The incident took place at a rented beach house in Bethany Beach, Del.

She faced up to 15 years in prison but received a lesser sentence after agreeing to plead guilty to fourth-degree rape, a Class C felony in Maryland.

The Reliable Source detailed Shattuck’s fall from grace in June, when she pleaded guilty:

Shattuck’s arrest rocked Baltimore elite circles in which the diminutive socialite had cut an outsized figure. She was married to prominent Baltimore businessman Mayo A. Shattuck, and their children (along with her victim) attended the posh McDonogh School. She was heavily involved in several charities and in 2005 entered the annals of Ravens cheerleading history as the oldest squad member at age 38. Shattuck even appeared in the first season of the ABC reality show “Secret Millionaire.”

But since her headline-grabbing arrest, Shattuck, once known for courting the spotlight, has maintained a minuscule public profile. Her divorce was finalized two days before she turned herself in, the charity boards that praised her enthusiasm and commitment distanced themselves, the Web site poised to become her Goop-like lifestyle hub is blank.

“Shattuck, 48, apologized and appeared to sob during her testimony in court Friday before the victim’s parents, who said it has been an agonizing situation for their family,” the Sun reports.

I'm of two minds. Wrong for young girls to have sex with old pervs. Fantabulous for 15-16 year old Lucas to hammer an NFL cheerleader. I spent a good deal of my formative years considering that scenario. Living it out would have literally been a dream come true.

There are more girls who are truly injured by having sex underaged with some older guy than the other way around. Very few teenage boys are actually damaged by having sex with an adult woman. The girls are scarred. The guys aren't. Basically, I agree with you.

These right and wrong standards of society are always in flux. It's funny how the culture sells sex, glorifies sex, puts sexual contexts in almost every aspect of our lives, and then reacts in harsh surprise when the people engage in the act itself. It's one thing to be raped and it not be consensual. But, I can recall my childhood well and at 15, 14, 13, or even 12? I was absolutely ready to go! If you want to do a study on little boys who were sexually abused, I will give you that one. 16 year old boys who have sex with their teachers aren't effected, other than the number of high fives, as pointed out earlier, they get from their friends.

They kept her picture out of the news both times. A friend of mine works with a guy whose son went to high school with her. The son said she is ridiculously hot and completely understands how men could get in trouble with her. She literally helped ruin 2 guy's careers in less than a year.
