Foster Transfer

I apologize for being a bit harsh, but after watching him in limited action last season, not sure that's what the Hawks need going forward.

With all due respect Mitch, I believe Iowans have not seen him play basketball “healthy” in well over two years….He has had foot issues ever since he was a junior in HS….Thgere is a reason why damn near every D1 school in the nation knew about him.
He may never develop but if he does, dont be surprised. He is a talent. Some kids though, never catch a break.

Quite possibly true. But we had several posters on here during his junior and senior year say he wasn't even the best player playing at Oskaloosa.

Because of his injury and limitations, he probably was not……there was another kid whom was talk nand athletic who was a sold basketball ear…and a really decent HS quarterback…I cant think of his name but. I think he is at UNI Playing BB.

Hey, X Foster is going to just love those road trips to places like Boise or Logan in January and February, and the tiny TV audience watching him.

ha ha ha ha!

Cole Henry

Watching their HS team, Cole lacked the NBA frame that Foster had, but was clearly "the guy" due to his competitiveness. Some players just have "it" and some players don't. Foster has a ton of God given gifts, but just isn't a "baller" and so it's hard to tell how far he can get with those gifts. Players that get the most out of their gifts just have an intuition / awareness / feel for the sport in addition to playing at 110% the whole game and often being a leader in the huddle. Foster to me has always struggled in those areas although I think he's generally a good kid. I do hope he figures it out as it would be fun to watch him in the NBA some day.

Reminds me of a bit of Uhl who had a ton of potential but lacked that personality or edge to get the most from it. Foster is Uhl x 150% as his ceiling is much higher.

In the limited time I have watched him both live at the state tournament and on TV......The kid is a legit 6'11"/7' tall. He is athletic as hell.....can run, jump, and has good lateral movement and coordination for someone that size.....seriously, his potential is immense. He also has some skills in terms of shooting the ball.

IF he is healthy and has his head on straight he will stand out on the court.....for anyone really watching. I wish he would transfer to Iowa......unless he was a head case that would kill chemistry (which I don't believe is the case-but I wouldn't take him no matter the talent if he was) you take him in a heart beat.

Best high school player vs best college prospect might not be the same thing. I believe Fran offered Foster but not Henry.

He will be out of college before the Big 12’s current tv contract is up

And the Big 12 isn’t making it to the end of their current contract.

I actually thought Foster looked better than I expected he might last year. 7fters are often a bit uncoordinated and take time to develop. Assuming he’s healthy I think he’ll be a good player. I’m a little surprised there haven’t been transfer rumors just given how back and forth he was during recruiting. It must have been just rumors but I had heard one of the main reasons he went to ISU was because of his girlfriend and then they broke up. Obviously there has been plenty of adversity at ISU in his time there. Kudos to him I guess for sticking it out rather than looking to transfer right away, although I’ll keep hoping some day he does end up in black and gold.

Yes, Foster has a high ceiling. He played on an injured foot last year and looked pretty good. An athletic 7 footer who can run the court and shoot 3's has great potential . I hope he can stay healthy and have success, except when he faces the Hawks of course !

If he can't stay healthy he should go to Kentucky

I’ve watched this kid on and off since he was an 8th grade and have never been impressed. He is a really nice kid but doesn’t have the work ethic or desire to make his team better. He doesn’t do the little things or know how to utilize his size. I hope the ship has sailed at Iowa.
