When he answered that question of what he thought about 10-10 in the B1G and he answered "tremendous".......it sounds to me like he is content with the current state. That's not good........
He's not content but you know he was not going to say anything to get print in a very negative way.
He had to answer the question but probably did not say what his true feelings are.
For a coach who has barely won 49% of conference games in 9 years... 10-10 is ‘tremendous’ in his eyes. When he answered that question of what he thought about 10-10 in the B1G and he answered "tremendous".......it sounds to me like he is content with the current state. That's not good........
What is he supposed to say? Rip the team? Say they underachieved ? failure of a season ? they dont deserve to be in the tournament? hope Moss, Cook, and Dailey leave at year end?
There is no question that Fran is PO'd. Let's just hope he can figure out what to do next. Because this is not looking good.
Iowa got absolutely clowned yesterday. There is nothing else to say. Nebraska had a severely depleted roster and it got worse as the game progressed and they beat Captain Sideways with his full compliment of players. The players are not guiltless here. Other than Bohannon, Garza and Wieskamp I am not sure I would bring anybody else back next year if that was an option. Bohannon plays his ass off but once again Fran doesn't have the right supporting cast around him. So sick of seeing Iowa look slow and un-athletic. It's hard to see them play with absolutely zero passion but again, this is to be expected from a Fran team.

Well, the knock on Fran is the end of year meltdowns. This is the 3rd time at least a special season was spoiled due to becoming the worst team in the BIG 10 late. There is no reason we ever should lose the last 5. Inferior teams like RU and NU took it to us and we pissed down our leg. Not even competitive against an inferior OSU team (on the road) or WISKY. I can get losing to them but man alive we didn't show up at all. Then get beat by a couple sub 500 teams. Good teams need to play their best ball late and that is when Fran's team's have died a painful death. The thing is that this has been a trend and MUST be addressed. But I don't think he will or knows how to save changing up his assistants. If we can't learn to play adequate defense every night we will continue to get killed in this league.
No but it would be nice, just for once, just to hear something REAL, where one of our coaches comes out and say that they expect more.
Not just a bunch of hyperbole, and "aw shucks, rainbows and unicorns, that's football/basketball" coach speak.
If it looks like a duck it is a duck. If it quacks like a duck it is a duck, If they look slow they are slow. If they look un-athletic they are un-athletic.Iowa got absolutely clowned yesterday. Yes. "Tremendous" was the wrong answer by a mile.Good lord, drama.........no, he is not supposed to say those things. Those ridiculous things you said in your post have nothing to do with what I said in the op. However, anything other than "trememdous". How about, "I'm not satisfied" or "We need to play better" or "We have some important games coming up and need to improve" or "We as coaches need to put our players in better position to win"........or..........There are so many things he could have said. The players are grown men who can accept "team" criticism. I understand not throwing an individual player under the bus, but it's ok to have some critical things to say about the way the "team" is playing. Otherwise, nothing will change.
Couldn't agree more.No but it would be nice, just for once, just to hear something REAL, where one of our coaches comes out and say that they expect more.

Remember when Iowa would win by 20 and the opposing team would try to score late and it would upset Fran? Fast forward to when Iowa is getting owned and his boy pushes the ball up to fire a 3 pointer t the buzzer down 23.
I’m sure that upsets Fran too.
We are adding a 6-9 175lb wing. That will make us quicker and better defensively under Fran! Haha yeah right, we will be slower next year.
.Yup, I would rather see a 6'1" quick true PG that can run the show, penetrate and take some of the pressure off Bohannon. I believe that is all we were missing this year was a quick 6'1" smart, penetrating floor general. It would have prevented teams from getting up in Jordan's jock strap and would have freed him up some. This year, once teams saw the recipe on tape, unless Iowa was shooting well, defending them was an easy task. It was probably a few days off for some coaches getting ready to play Iowa.......I wouldn't be surprised if they took a little mini-vacation leading up to the game.![]()
...and he’s also not going anywhere —until Barta is replaced. There is no question that Fran is PO'd. Let's just hope he can figure out what to do next. Because this is not looking good.
You are clueless. Fran wasn’t upset about the other teams trying to score. Fran was upset when the other teams tried (one did) to steal the ball when Iowa clearly called the dogs off not even attempting a shot. Keep making stuff up though. It should make you feel better about having to deal with Fran next year.
they were competing until the end when game was out of reach. That is what Connor was doing taking a late 3pt shot that did not matter.
Tom and Matt mentioned during the HR Podcast today that sometimes Fran is a "little over the top" with hyperbole. No but it would be nice, just for once, just to hear something REAL, where one of our coaches comes out and say that they expect more.
