Fran + portal

Remember folks, Oregon scored 20 points on a NCAA record 10 dunks on Iowa. Maybe that had a bearing on Oregon hitting all those open 3"s don't you think? If the two teams met 10 times there is no way Iowa would keep them from doing the same thing over and over and over again.
Iowa was not only out classed athletically at the guard position but everywhere else on the court with our veteran starters.
Granted Patrick, Joe T, Ahron, Tony, Keegan, and Kris could match up athletically with Oregon but only Keegan and Patrick had the experience that Oregon players had.
Unfortunately the NCAA tournament doesn't provide for a best of series, it's 1 and done, Iowa lost, deal with it...I have.

Fran is showing interest in Santos-Silva a Tech transfer, formerly at VCU. Solid undersized big who is a good defender.

There are a lot of internet basketball experts who I'm guessing are the type who finally got a hot girlfriend, then dumped her the second he realized she farts too!

You'd think after reading all of the posts that it's Oregon playing tomorrow night. They got hot, Iowa was certainly not at its best (health wise) and they got beat.

As long as we don't have to pay for all his past and future travel expenses, sure, why not! Ha!

Gawd I get so sick of hearing how unathletic we are. You would think we need walkers just to make it up and down the court. We have some excellent basketball players on the team but facing Oregon when we did was the perfect storm for failure. You act like Iowa is some blind pig that was just fortunate to find 22 acorns this year.

You are trying to create this exaggerated straw man. Reality = we are more of a skill team with very good shooters. We also have some strong athleticism, but it tends to be the younger, inexperienced guys who also dont have the high shooting percentages. Oregon, on the other hand, tended to pack all the benefits in one. Athleticism, Shooting and Defense, combined. Just a shatty matchup.

You need to listen to Fran's interview on the big he's after in the portal. Nah you don't care, you like to rag on Fran and Iowa basketball.

Where is this interview? I would like to listen. I don't rag on Iowa basketball. I rag on a coach who hasn't learned from the last 11 years and got smoked in another second round game with his best team at Iowa. Lots of talent in the portal and I hope he is looking at bringing 1-2 guys in. Nunge gone, Josh O. unproven but big up side and CJ has yet to complete a season without his leg / foot injury hampering him.

Fran needs to find wifi and take a look at the portal. He will never make it past the second round with his players that much is clear. Other than Garza, Iowa was totally overmatched at every position and it wasn't even close. Oregon could have turned that into a 30 point game had Altman not let up. And a healthy CJ and Nunge would not have made any difference. 10 years of Fran with his best team ever and they still can't compete in the second round.
Fran was on Doug Gottlieb's show Wednesday and said he's looking for a big on the portal to replace Jack.

That is encouraging and logical.
Oh, I forgot to add that Fran said he'd had end-of-season meetings with each underclassman and all are returning. He didn't include Joe W in that group saying Joe wants more info from the NBA, if I recall.

Disagree here. A healthy CJF and Nunge would have been HUGE for the tournament. Yes, I agree we need more quickness. But the Oregon game would have been a completely different matchup with CJF & Nunge firing on all cylinders. Without question.
