He also played Josh o a lot. We could also list the people he doesn’t play too. His substitutions and timeout usage has been a major weakness for a power 5 coach.

Last year's team had the National Player of the Year and 2 NBA draft picks; they were being compared to some of Iowa's all time great teams. Yet they could not even get past the Round of 32.

And this season, like most, have been defined by lack of defense and lack of rebounding. Not rebounding the basketball cost us in the Illinois game and it cost us tonight vs Wisconsin.
We are never going to contend for a B1G Championship until we take defense & rebounding seriously.

It's Fran's job to identify talent. He has a staff to help. All of them get paid to do said work. You and others act like Fran discovered free energy because he has found a few players over the years. It's comical people are still referencing Aaron White like he is the Iowa version of MJ.
When Fran leads this team to a 4-5 conference wins this year and gets smoked by all the teams who embraced the portal, maybe he will learn something, but I doubt it. Transfer players are bad for chemistry (per Fran), but I guess having a dumpster fire year that will likely lead to guys exiting is conducive to good chemistry? Good thing Fran isn't a scientist.

Fran had the NPOTY, a second-round pick, and a future lottery pick (buried on the bench behind his 6’5 no-talent son) and produced Tom Davis results. In one season, the new boss in Ames hit the transfer portal and took a 2-win team and absolutely embarrassed Fran on his way into the Top 25. Lol. You are 100% right. Too many in the Iowa fan base have gotten comfortable with mediocrity. I was born in 1981—a decade that produced a Final Four appearance and Elite 8 runs. So don’t tell me the Iowa program isn’t capable of more.
No one is expecting Iowa to become Duke. But the expectation has to be higher than what Fran has produced in 12 seasons. Burying a future lottery pick on the bench last season in favor of his 6’5 son is the very definition of nepotism. And I don’t want to hear KM was “still developing” last year. So what? In the limited minutes KM saw, he showed what a dynamic player he is. And it was a hell of a lot better than anything Mr. “0 points and 5 fouls in 15 minutes” produced last year.
The fact Connor continues to log the minutes he does is insane. I don’t care how great his basketball IQ is. He shoots 60% from the foul line and 21.1% from the field. His “sick post feeds” are yielding 2 assists per game. Last year, a whopping 3.6. Is Iowa improved defensively with him in the game? El oh el. So other than his last name, what does he contribute that merits the minutes he logs? It’s a fugging joke, and only the Iowa fan base tolerates this shit. I am at the point where Iowa football should be one of 6 of the schools that should be in contention for a Big10 title more often than not.

The constant besmearching of players and posters and coaches solves so many problems. Everyone HAS to be right so they can puff out their chest and fire off. Nobody is "demonizing" Fran for loving his sons and to suggest that is just stupid. It's when that love blinds the him and gets in the way of doing the job he's paid millions to do then it becomes a real problem which is what has been going on with both revenue sports at Iowa. It's simply inexcusable and the criticism is beyond justified
I like Fran, more than I logically should because his results thus far don't deserve it.
He brought the Murray twins on board because their dad was a great Hawk and he thought they could be role players. No chance he knew Keegan was going to be the player that he's become. Zero chance.

Fran has always been able to identify talent but he has had a difficult time getting the talent to Iowa City to win at a higher level. Next year, Big O and Mulvey need to make huge strides for the team to be successful. Hopefully at some point, the staff will decide defense and rebounding matter.
