I was thoroughly impressed with Iowa's basketball team and facilities. Being originally from NW Iowa (and cheering for the.... other.... school in Iowa), this year was my first time going to Kinnick and, yesterday, Carver. Had a chance to stop into downtown IC and check out the bars and enjoyed all the cheap beer and am looking forward to coming back for a gameday this fall. At Carver, I was in lobby for 5 minutes and had someone chatting my ear off about SD and Iowa athletics. The fans were unbelievable on both sides, and that was an extremely enjoyable atmosphere. Thank you to everyone!

I was extremely impressed with Jok, the man could simply not miss on anything. With Cook, Pemsl, Moss, Bohannon, I expect this team to make the tournament for the next three years for sure. Hopefully, we will meet in the Big Dance next year!

It is nice to have opposing fans recognize our team and facilities. The Coyotes represented your league well last night. It will be difficult for you to keep your coach long term, so enjoy him while he is there. I, too, hope both teams go dancing in 2018.

Nice post ... I think both teams have a lot to look forward, too. I was very impressed with the play of South Dakota ... You only lose one player so should be fun times ahead ... Glad you had nice experiences in Iowa City ... Cheers!

where did you travel from?

South Dakota is just like Iowa; they have just one senior!

There seemed to be a lot of Coyote fans in the stands, too! It was a good game!

the only thing I think people wish Carver had was 2 levels so that you could enter/exit easier and you were closer to concessions and rest rooms

I'm originally from the LeMars area, but reside in Vermillion so it was a quick 5 hour drive! The drive back made it long.

We just built a new arena that just opened, very similar to Carver, but on a much smaller scale. I was in about Row 8 with the rest of the USD faithfully and my legs were burning going up and down a couple of times!;)

Thanks for the post and so glad you enjoyed yourself. Good luck to the Yotes in the future.

Thank you for the post. I was impressed with how the school supported your team bringing the band and cheerleaders and your coach was fun to watch. I would take a couple of your players on your team on our team in a heartbeat as well. I honestly don't remember that many Coyotes fans at the game just the ones I saw behind the bench and two in the ice cream line. Do you think there were there more than 300 there when the band/cheerleaders weren't factored in they seems to be almost half the crowd from where I was sitting.

Thank you for the very classy post. You guys came to win, competed hard, and had me concerned right up until the very end.

Now please do us and the rest of the world a big favor and kick the "Bize-uhn's" ass in football this fall. TIA...

Always amazing to go to western Iowa and see life-long Hawkeye fans that watch nearly every game but have never once been to Carver or Kinnick. I feel somewhat guilty living only a half hour or so away and going whenever I wish.

I grew up in NW Iowa and will certainly attest to the quality of the people there and our neighbors across the border. While I went to UNI myself, had lots of friends that went to South Dakota and loved it. You should be very proud of your team, very solid, hard nosed and well coached. Frankly, they scared the sh!t out of me. Good luck next season!

If you had such a good time, come back Saturday as the women play in the WNIT.

South Dakota has one thing that Iowa will never have.
And that is Mt. Rushmore. We have Kinnick Stadium
and Carver Hawkeye Arena. If you like Presidential
history, then South Dakota wins. If you like Big Ten
football and basketball, then Iowa wins.

Best post/like ratio in history, best to not post again and keep that intact!

No doubt! Ive been posting here since 2006 and he probably already has more likes than I do.

Seriously though, I enjoyed chatting with the South Dakota fans at the game and I was impressed by the energy they had. Good people.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. I was really impressed with your team. Dickerson has improves nicely since he left Iowa and I'm happy for the kid. He has never put the University down and was nothing but a promoter when he was here. Your coach is very good and a class act and hope you guys get to keep him as long as possible but I have a feeling you guys will have a very good year next year and make a run into the tourney, then some other bigger school will come calling and poach him from you. Best of luck to the Yotes in future.

Did you know anyone from Maurice Iowa?
