I know fathers who wanted sons but instead
got daughters. In order to rectify the situation
they named their daughter with their own name.

I know a Bob who named his daughter, Bobette

I know a Jim who named his daughter, Jimella

I know a Ray who named his daughter, Raylene

Anyone else know a friend or family member
who did this?

My brother-in-law, Michael, had three daughters and they tried one more time for a son. Fourth child was a daughter which they named Mikayla. I don't think that's too bad.

Bob was electrical contractor who owned his
own company and owned fabulous homes in
Illinois and Florida.. (Father of Bobette)

Jim worked for lumber company & he had
4 children who all graduated from college.
(Father of Jimella)

Ray was a wealthy farmer with
2 daughters. Both of them own their own
businesses. (Father of Raylene)

Well Lute, you've demonstrated you know some egocentric men that have low self esteem and hate their daughters. Those names they came up with and their wives agreed to are horrible. Why any person wouldn't want their kids to have their own name is beyond me.

My son's middle name is a joining of my father-in-law and my dad's first names.

These 3 men were frustrated fathers
I do not like any of the names they chose
for their daughters. Jimella is the worst
.

George Foreman has not one, not two but THREE sons named George AND a daughter named Georgetta. Pretty soon he'll be naming appliances after himself too.

I know a dude named Sam who named his son Sam and his daughter Sami. I asked him if he thought he was George Forman.

My thoughts exactly. Who gets frustrated over the sex of their child? The wives should have divorced those douche bags years ago for the sake of the children.

The male ego is strange beast. Fathers
want a son to carry on family name, to fulfill
their athletic dreams in high school and take
family business someday.

I forgot about our U.S.Postal Carrier.
His name is Alvin and his daughter is
named Aljean.

I don’t think this is limited to weird daughter names.

Anyone who names their kid after them to get a Junior or beyond sucks.

All better than Fonda Dicks. I would have gone w Jamie instead of Jimena, Rey for Raylene, but alas Roberta is a tossup w Bobette.

The phenomenon of naming kids after someone and having kids until you have a specific gender or number is an odd and off-putting concept to me. When we were expecting our child, all I wanted was a healthy child. I was honored to be the father of a girl for 14.5 years.

I once knew an Orvilla.

I also knew a trucker named Don
He was upset that he got no son.
So he named his daughter Donya.

I worked with a Normita(went by Mita)who had an older sister named Norma....their father Norman was bound and determined to have his name involved.
