We’ve had the December signing period for a few years now. I think Iowa has benefitted in not having teams like OSU and Michigan swoop in during late January visits when they clearly know what they need to finish their class. But then we do the same to MAC schools. I digress…
Is this calendar sustainable? The amount of chaos between December 1 and December 15 is insane. Coaching changes, transfer portals, players going pro - just seems like a lot for a 15 day period and the people that get hurt the most are players looking for a spot. A guy who’s been committed to a coach for 15 months now has 15 days to change everything. A portal commit suddenly takes away your spot, 15 days to find a new spot. I’m not sure I have a great solution but I don’t think this is the best way yet.
