Gallup abortion polling

The optics of the abortion protests are a win for Republicans. Angry, unattracive, overweight people with colored hair and tattoos. Normal people don't want to be associated with that.

Are you describing the typical Casey’s in small town Iowa? Or the Dollar General?

Remarkable how consistent polling has been over time.

Also: the numbers below seem pretty telling (surprising level of consensus emerges)
Thinking more generally, do you think abortion should generally be legal or generally illegal during each of the following stages of pregnancy. How about -- [RANDOM ORDER]?

GALLUP
People have a misleading sense of what "viability" is during the 2nd 3 months.
And they've been bombed with propaganda about "heartbeats", which are really clumps of cells not doing anything until after birth.

“Patients are very upset, crying and desperate,” said a representative from Women’s Med, one of the few remaining abortion providers in Ohio. “There is a lot of confusion.”
“Today we saw a patient in Dayton who has cancer. Her doctors told her she would have to terminate before she received chemotherapy treatment. She will have to travel to Indiana. A mom brought her daughter in and doesn’t own a car. She will have to rent one to get her daughter to her appointment in Indianapolis later this week.”
There were 2,770 induced abortions performed in Montgomery County in 2020, the most recent data available from the Ohio Department of Health. This amounted to 13.4% of the procedures in the state. Statewide, 61.8 percent of the 20,605 induced abortions reported in 2020 were less than nine weeks along.
Women’s Med estimates about one of every 15 of its patients are less than six weeks pregnant. Many women don’t even know they are pregnant that early.

Unless you’re in one of the unfortunate 24 states that don’t allow for ballot initiatives /referendum. Then you have to depend on your gerrymandered “representatives.”

By put it on the ballot I mean make it an issue in the election.

Gerrymandering does help but if abortion is that popular there should be a massive blowback from 2/3rds of the population. And at the very least it should help the Dems win all the swing districts and states.

Already stated that the federal government should withhold ALL federal funding for any state that restricts or bans abortions UNLESS they hold a referendum every election on the issue for all voters. Give the people the vote; if they vote to ban, then they are banned and no federal $$ restrictions.

Fail to hold a public referendum and you get no funding.

It would be difficult for the states that don't have anything that allow law making via referendum. They would have to amend their constitutions to do it.

Although you could have a constitutional amendment on the question. That is usually done via referendum.
