GAME is over Kirk

I rant and rave when they go into their ultra conservative mode. Today, not so much. They were running on all eight up to the end! Yea, maybe they should have had Mansell in for a series or two. However, I am good with it! They were fairly aggressive today!

No Mansell?? The guy could use a few snaps! In this case, quite few could have been had. Never know when Nate could go down... Any game film for Peyton is a bonus!

Sorry for the rant. One of my few pet peeves on KF.
Guess we have to have something to bitch about

Dude, seriously, have a drink and shut up. Iowa was amazing today.

Sorry, Absolutely nothing to do with my post.

Winning easily should allow for 2nd & 3rd teamers to see some game time. KF has always been that way. My guess when BF is HC you will see a different less conservative approach. Much like our offense (love that!).

ANY film that a backup has in real play is huge... Plus playing "under the lights" brings out a different player. That is good to see, whether they can handle the pressure & shine, or fall on the faces.

Anyhow, I agree. Iowa was outstanding today. Love it!

Serious question time,

Peyton has already seen game time this year. Is it really gonna make a big difference in 2 years, when he plays, if he plays 15 instead of 20 snaps this year?

He’s a center so I doubt it. Feel for the game isn’t a trait that runs in the ferentz family. They are lunch pail all the way. No one allowed in games unless you practice a million times without incident

I'll buy that... Hopefully NS will get that record! Our OL is badass. They are giving him the time. We have a lot of targets. And BF is mixing it up like we have not seen since Hayden.

Can you imagine if we had some serious talent at WR??? Woah...

He was trying to get NS a piece of the record for 7 pass TD's in a Big Ten game. Nothing more than that.

Probably not. But it definitely will if Stanley goes down next week, OR in 4 weeks with the West division on the line!
Don't you think...?

Edit: I don't know my directions

The game was still in the air in the 4th until the last INT. If they scored there it could have tightened up and you're whining that we didn't put a kid in that has like a 50% INT rate? Cmon now.

Doubtful, they aren't gonna do something in a game to try to please one kid....
How about 3-4 kids yearly until they retire from coaching?

Could be they think the starters need some practice together yet, as they still seem to be off quite a bit on some plays.

You know what ... that could be part of it too. A lot of our players on O are still pretty young ... they can learn from each and every rep they get. Thus, game reps let them put up film on themselves that they can learn from. More importantly, it's against a different D ... so it forces them to have to adapt accordingly too.

Would Stanley have won the Walter Camp award today if Mansel had come in for him instead? I suspect Stanley would not have gotten it if he had five touchdowns instead of six.

How do you know this? You don't watch, follow or support the program.

Valid comment. I'm sure you would say the same if Stanley, Hockenson, Wirfs, Jackson, etc, were injured with the game in hand. Great opportunity for the backups to get some snaps blown. Only negative event of the day.

We don't get to play Indiana again until like 2024 so we just wanted to put the boots to them.

Wholly disagree. My big peeve in past years is how little the offense has worked on their sets and plays in real games. Too often the coaches have gone into a shell when we get a lead, instead of letting the top guys work on their timing and teamwork and cohesion and working out kinks. This is also part of the 'dont put things on film' versus 'work on stuff' argument. Often in the past, the coaches reign everything in and don't show stuff only to have execution on those things fail at key times. I'd rather they keep the oddball plays off film, but work on everything else as much as possible with the top guys. That is especially teue now that we are apparently moving to a more pass oriented offense...practice makes perfect.
