CSB. My 22 year old son is in DC at the Nats game tonight. We live in MD and he just graduated from Syracuse last month, but growing up, he was a Hawk fan like his dad. He went to the Nats game in DC tonight with some friends and they showed a pic of Garza on the Jumbotron. Of course my son knew who he was. My son was out getting a beer and walking along the concourse when he saw Garza walking towards him. He put his fist out and said "Go Hawks". Garza fist-bumped him and said "Go Hawks". My son was pretty thrilled.

I don’t think I’ve met anybody that doesn’t like Luka Garza, including other fan bases. We will be taking about Luka for decades.

We will be talking about him forever.

I don't think any Iowa player will top this:

* National Player of the Year
* 2x B!G Player of the Year
* #1 on the Iowa All Time Scoring List
* Number retired & hanging from the rafters

I don't think opposing fanbases were particularly fond of Luka, but it seemed as though he had good relationships with some of the other big men that he tussled with on a regular basis. No matter how tough the game, there seemed to be mutual respect.

Good for him!

I don't know how you cannot like Luka. Great BB player and seems to be terrific young man.
My oldest has very little energy for college basketball, but he loves the “hard work” story (because it’s his path in life). He’s loved following Luka.

Luka is such a great message to all athletes. He certainly hit the height lottery for basketball, but everything else was all him. He certainly could have been just another big stiff, but he refused to be categorized.

I was 13 when Iowa went to the Elite 8 under Dr. Tom. That’s prime idolization. Luka Garza will probably go down as my all-time favorite player, which is saying a ton when I grew up with BJ, Marble, Horton, Lohaus, Street, Murray, Settles.

Cool that the Nats gave him some love. A little ‘local boy does good’ spin for the home fans. Happy for Luka to get that treatment back in DC.
