A part of me wants to be pissed at Gilman antics but most of it is innocuous. Running into the other huddle is silly but he does it all the time and Minni acted like is was new. I thought he handled the shove well and he told the kid he just pinned "great match". I am learning more about why he does what he does. While not real sportsmanship it is not hurting anyone. At least he backs it up.

I think it is kinda stupid. But I also think the rah rah huddles are equally as stupid. Also if I was Minnesota and an Iowa guy has been doing this for how many years I guarantee I would have something a little more creative than a shove to counter it.

Personally, not a fan of Gilman running into the huddle. I love the tenacity, but it's a bit unsportsmanlike.

I would agree. No use for it.

I originally gave him the benefit of the doubt that he wanted to get the handshake over with and get ready to wrestle when he is first out of the box, but he always does it. He does it to make a point - psychological warfare or something. If all the wrestlers are lined up, I don't have much of a problem if he runs all the way across and shakes the opponent's hand. When they huddle up, he should just run over to about 5 ft short the huddle and wait for the guy to come out. No need to run into the huddle. Or just adopt the Ramos stare - much prefer the Ramos stare.

Yeah, they should have had a big net ready, and just swoop Gilman up and take him back to the center of the mat and drop him.

I think Chief, or perhaps someone else said it best... Gilman/Hawks are winning the mental game before the whistle even blows.
Part of the mental battle is to get the other wrestler mad enough to actually come out and wrestle, actually try to score and beat Gilman. Sometimes there is a method to the madness.

Well, that part seemed to work pretty well last night -- but perhaps not in the manner he would have liked.
