Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), chairman of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, said the panel plans to invite Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, to be interviewed by the panel. The conservative activist was not originally expected to be a focus of public hearings this month. But people involved in the investigation say newly obtained email correspondence between her and White House lawyer John Eastman have revealed that her efforts to overturn the 2020 election were more extensive than previously known.

Meanwhile, a former lawyer for Vice President Mike Pence and a retired federal judge in statements Thursday to the committee both harshly criticized President Donald Trump for trying to pressure Pence to overturn the 2020 presidential election results as Congress counted electoral college votes on that violent day.
Both are scheduled to testify live when the committee holds its third high-profile hearing of the month starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Lawyer Greg Jacob suggested Trump tried to use election law as a “plaything” to advance his interests. Retired conservative jurist J. Michael Luttig said Trump’s repeated false election claims “laid waste to Americans’ confidence in their national elections.”

Weird

@binsfeldcyhawk2 and @The Tradition told us we needed to wrap this up months ago... there was simply nothing more to be learned.

And FWIW......MOST of this information has come to light via Congressional Committee subpoenas. DOJ has learned quite a lot from those, information which they would never have been able to compel by themselves thru any criminal investigations.

That is a you problem, then.

Maybe.

But what’s the point of voting for a party when they won’t do the absolute bare minimum things after they are elected … like act promptly to save a democracy.

The House has a member who gave tours to MAGA people who invaded later that week. 17 months later - Subpoena? No. Deposition? No. Ethics charges? No. Still a representative? Yes.

They have had the video for 17 months.

How long did it take to untangle Watergate again?

Hard to untangle something if you aren't trying. Loudermilk subpoena? No. Brooks? No. Gohmert? No. Gosar? Gohmert? Biggs? Nope, nope, nope.

Nixon resigned 15 days after the Supreme Court ordered the tapes released. Why did the Court even issue an opinion - because the tapes were subpoenaed.

The GA DA has had the audio tape of find me more votes for 15 months. The committee has had the videotape of the representative tour guide for 17 months. Still nothing.

She strikes someone who is over confident, and filled with hubris and self righteousness. She is probably pretty good at shoving around legal arguments, and reviewing drafts, but my guess is that in front of a tough questioner she'll go off the rails in five minutes.

Didn't Clarence wag his finger and tsk, tsk folks a few weeks ago over the disjointed relationships in the court these days? Maybe he should tell Ginni to STFU and stop participating in coups, and then the confidence in the court might be restored?

Just how sexist and racist is the left? They tried to lynch Thomas when he was nominated for the court and now are doing it again. Such good people on the left that they started the kkk and are continuing it's legacy. Funny too how Ginni isn't independent from her husband on her decisions and actions. After all a woman is just an extension of her husband right?

Our forefathers must have been idiots or totally naive. Couldn't they foresee that after 250 years that there would be people who would parse their words in order to find an alternate interpretation of their "original" intent in order to steal an election?

What were they thinking?

The left didn't start the KKK you freaking idiot. Democrats did from the South did. JFC. And Republicans have now taken the white supremist mantra.

You dumbbells prove your stupidity every sentence you type. Suggestion: either actually learn, tell the truth or STFU.

"Would you please remove the BLM sign from Clifton? As leaders of this community, you should be smarter than promoting such a group as this, who uses race to foment chaos to destabilize the nation"

Irony Is Dead.

He won’t get his own wife the help she desperately needs, but we trust him to do what’s right for the country…

Let's not forget that Thomas included IN one of his opinions on "Covid vaccination requirements", that the Covid vaccines were developed using fetal tissues, something that is demonstrably false and straight outta the QAnon playbook.

You figure he got that nugget straight from Ginni? How can any justice be qualified to remain on the bench, when he's including conspiracy-theory level shit IN HIS DECISIONS!!???

Committee: We'd like to talk.
Ginni Thomas: No.
Committee: We tried.
My ass on election day: sitting home on the couch.

This mickey mouse half ass shit has to stop. WTF democrats? 17 months later.
To be fair, the committee has referred the subpoena dodgers to the DOJ. That's all they can do. It's the DoJ that needs to follow up on that and they have only done the bare minimum to enforce them.
