A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.

That sounds like KF trying to quell questions at a press conference.A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
I'm so sick of his constant bullshit. Blame everyone but himself. And people love it. Everyone knows the problems, so they don't need repeated, but blaming others for his mistakes to me is like crossing the Rubicon.Kirk has to recruit better.
Kirk: Cade has to play better.A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
Sounds to me like Kirk is making an educated wish.......LOL.... So his plan will be to sh*t in one hand and wish in the other. "Hopefully he plays better, cause he's playing the rest of the year..."
0% chance that we'll see meaningful snaps for Sullivan outside the RedZone. It's a damn clown show in Iowa City
Everything he says and does is carefully calculated to benefit himself, just like all dictators.Guess my point here is that’s about as negative of a comment about a player, directly, you will get out of KF. He isn’t dumb and I don’t think he is oblivious to the fact like most here think. He is basically telling the fans Cade is playing like ass while walking the fine line of being a coach that doesn’t cut them down to nothing ala Scott Frost. It is why I do believe Cade will have a much shorter leash going forward. It’s a small statement for the press but a big statement from Kirk.
Kirk has to recruit better.
He just hired him like 8 months ago.Kirk needs a better QB coach. Cade’s mechanics are the worse in QB at Iowa I’ve seen. That includes Deacon Hill’s.

I can't fault Lester for this. Cade looks exactly like he's looked since he arrived in Iowa City. This is just as good as he gets.Just needs more time to work with Cade. Maybe by month 10 Cade will stop throwing off his back foot and start using the laces of the football.

You’re giving him props for admitting something that everybody else has seen for weeks? BoldA smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
People need to stop putting their blind loyalty to a coach over the program. Some people love him for sacrificing the football program for his own ego and family. Those people can go to ****. I do not see any other reason they would support him other than the fact that it benefits ISU as long as he still chemically changes what Hayden Fry built into shit. You’re giving him props for admitting something that everybody else has seen for weeks? Bold
With each one of these pathetic press conferences, he loses more people. I’ve never seen a guy who could generate more goodwill through some of his actions and manage to burn it up so quickly with others.
Lester has his hands tied.
That quote should be etched on his statue . . . along with "That's football," "We won 10 games," "We just need to execute," and "No, we never even thought of changing quarterbacks."A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
That would require a brain bigger than an amoeba. Idk if that is in his inventory.Even if a change is made, it’s too late. The season is effectively over in terms of reaching legitimately achievable goals. We lost two games that we shouldn’t have because of QB play (yes the defense could have played better in each - but that’s a cop out).
Which, btw, is EVEN MORE reason to play Sullivan now bc it will invest in next year when we’ll need competent QB play more than ever with all the talent graduating/leaving and the schedule getting harder. KF always gripes about the new QB not having game experience but fails to actually prepare him prior to becoming “the guy.” Well… this is it! Turn over the keys now and prepare for next year.
I don't remember seeing poor foot-work last season. He seemed to have better arm strength as well.I can't fault Lester for this. Cade looks exactly like he's looked since he arrived in Iowa City. This is just as good as he gets.
It's up to Lester for specialty situations, similar to a wildcat QB, but not for Sully to be QB1. Kirk would have to approve that. When asked about using Sully on 3rd and 1, KF said the use or not of Sully is up to Lester. So idk if Cade is better at hitting people in stride (I really can't remember on Sully's tape if he did that or if he was hitting people who were laying down in the soft spots) or if Cade knows the plays and checks better, but it does sound like the path for Sully to play more runs through Lester.
Ummm.. No. He's already said that the passing game needs to improve. The only words that would mean anything is that they're going to give Sullivan the start.Guess my point here is that’s about as negative of a comment about a player, directly, you will get out of KF. Nope. He looked terrible. Happy feet. Terrible mechanics. Throwing off the back foot. People were blaming it on injuries. It ain't injuries.I don't remember seeing poor foot-work last season. He seemed to have better arm strength as well.
The whole dam game was a specialty situation if I have ever seen one. In the end I agree with the idea that they HAVE TO PLAY Sully more to prepare him for next year and for Lester to get some idea on what he does or doesn't have for next year. If he can take what we have and turn one of them into a top 5 B10 QB or not. It's up to Lester for specialty situations, similar to a wildcat QB, but not for Sully to be QB1. Kirk would have to approve that.

Translation: “Gotta clean a couple things up.”A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
Why doesn't he just fake an injury then?Ummm.. No. He's already said that the passing game needs to improve. The only words that would mean anything is that they're going to give Sullivan the start.
Saying Cade has to play better while simultaneously saying he's done enough good things for them to believe he gives them the best chance to win keeps that door completely shut. When he says he's done enough good things to continue starting he's referring to the last 7 games. That's all he needs to do.
Nothing's going to change short of injury.
I agree that Sully needs to play a lot more, even if he doesn’t start. The whole dam game was a specialty situation if I have ever seen one. They had ~50 yards in the first half @ MSU, like 1 or 2 first downs facing 8-9 man boxes with everyone crashing hard to the LOS to stop Johnson. If that didnt cause them to use this kid to keep the D honest, nothing is going to. He’s probably really bad and they don’t want to ruin him this early.I agree that Sully needs to play a lot more, even if he doesn’t start.
I think you're right. I can't believe I let myself get sucked into hoping he would be good. I should have known we will never have a D1 worthy qb until KF is gone. They had ~50 yards in the first half @ MSU, like 1 or 2 first downs facing 8-9 man boxes with everyone crashing hard to the LOS to stop Johnson. If that didnt cause them to use this kid to keep the D honest, nothing is going to. He’s probably really bad and they don’t want to ruin him this early.
But, he’ll wait until mid-way through the 4th quarter.I’d rather he pull him out than call him out. KF doesn’t do this public QB callout thing, at least I don’t ever remember it. Tells me they’re going to yank him if he starts throwing late balls and Iowa gets a whipping from Northwestern.
Why wait this long for it to happen?A smidgen of props. He at least recognizes Cade underperforming. I think this could lead to a tightening of the leash.
