Maybe I am wearing black and gold rose tinted shades lol… I think Iowa could have a better season than most expect. Usually when Iowa is picked to do sos so or at the bottom of the standings they usually sneak up on teams and do really well. I don’t want to jinx this team as it could go south if they can’t shore up the lines and what I am worried about is QB play and linebackers as we are losing some super talented players that have been just outstanding over the last few years. As for QB I think we have better talent this year than last year and I hope they can utilize both of them. I don’t care who’s at the helm as long as they can move the ball and get first downs and score I am all good with whomever gives them the best shots. I personally like Sully because the kid can scramble but I have no idea about Grownoski (sp)? But I am sure he is going to be a good one as well. Time will tell but I think iowa has a better record this coming year than last and of course I could be severely wrong but looking at the past usually Iowa shines when coming into the season being the underdog.

LB is the biggest question mark. And while there are 3 OL returning, the two new starters will be pretty green.

But QB is the most interesting story. Everyone here has crowned Grownoski the starter, and he certainly has the resume to warrant those expectations. But Brown got some starts for an SEC team so you can't count out his game. This was Sully's job so I expect him to fight like hell to keep it. He's got a lot of B1G starts under his belt. Stratton did enough to win a couple games last year and Lester hyped up how he threw the ball, so he's not your typical 4th string. Great QB room, but will they all still be there when fall camp rolls around.

It's spelled Lebowski.

The defensive line will take care of the LBs IMO. The biggest question mark is the secondary. Lutmer was young, but yikes, Nestor had his doors blown off last year as well, I think Etringer steps into the cash position well. I really hope they can pull in some secondary talent and OL talent at the spring transfer portal.

Okay, here is my overly optimistic prediction if Gronowski turns out to be a stud, our young wrs step up like they could, our OL plays like seasoned vets every week, even against top competition, Lester's offense is opened even more, and our LB play doesn't drop off, and our secondary improves. We start the season 5-0. The fifth win is over Indiana who is "solved" by that point. We come out of the bye week and beat Wisconsin on the road. We pull off some of the ancient Kinnick magic and beat Penn State at home, then retain Floyd the following week. Sitting at 8-0 and ranked in the top ten, fans are feeling great. It's Kirk 7.0 and we're talking about how sad we are that he'll be retiring soon. We have Oregon coming to town and upset seems plausible. They curb stop us with a short passing attack and the blues carry over to California the following week because we don't win near Los Angeles. We sit at 8-2. The naysayers are back on the fire Ferentz bandwagon. Somehow Brian is blamed for the last two losses. We bounce back with wins over Michigan State and Nebraska to end the regular season 10-2. Then we do our post season thing.

I would sign up for that scenario. 😉

You’ll have your typical forum posters who pick Iowa to win four games or less…and then bitch all year even after their prediction has been exceeded. Other, more level headed posters see a challenging, but not impossible schedule. And a team that has a few question marks, but plenty of proven talent as well. I think if Gronowski gets to full health and proves to be a legit dual threat and we’re surprised by our new linebackers, this team can win nine games. I think the Hawks go 8-4.

I do think he'll need to bulk up and move to DL if he wants to wrestle heavyweight. Whatever he is currently at isn't cutting it against the top ranked guys.

Ben Keuter got absolutely man handled against Okie State Sunday night. He got tech falled and damn near pinned. He should get back on the football field.
He's a RS freshman who was going against a 24-year-old who's ranked #3 in the country, has finished 3rd at Nattys the past two years, and who pinned Big Cass at last year's nationals.

I see a 7-5 type year given the schedule. Hard to tell what will. happen at QB and hoping he stays healthy. I think o-line will be good...not great. I am worried about the back 7 on Defense but I have faith in Phil for sure! I mentioned on another thread the first 6 games are critical. I could see 6-0 and I could see 3-3. If it is 3-3 in the beginning with the back half of the schedule looking much tougher, 7-5 would be a stretch

Okay but what about Ferrari? Aint he the same?????????????????????????????????????????????? That kid kicked ass.

He is heavyweight. What did they expect and that was an embarrassing ass beating.
Ok so you just know very very little about wrestling. Got it.

Keuter did better against Hendrickson as a 230ish lb. RS freshman than Cassioppi did against him as a 260ish lb. 5th year senior. And I love Big Tony.

To call BK's effort "embarrassing" is just flat stupid and you should keep your delusion in the lane of Iowa football.

Regarding the original question, not optimistic.
Damaged QB
Questionable OL
Many replacements needed on Defense.
Questionable WRs.
OC who may or may not have freedom.

LOLZ. I bet Ben felt it was embarrassing as hell.

There was never any point in that match when he was even remotely in it and it got ended early.

Every couple of years we go through this with our linebackers and we always turn out with a great group.
