“I welcome the challenge,” Gilman said. “He came out there to beat me and I really appreciate that. I genuinely mean that too. He came out there to beat me. Not a lot of guys do that. They wrestle to keep it close. It was a good match.”

Somehow all of the well meaning guests that come here to bash Thomas must have missed this. What a great competitor.

Per Jason Bryant......

"Latest episode of the Guillotine Grapevine with post-match comments from Tom Brands, Thomas Gilman and Brandon Eggum.

I do mention in my opener that this episode started as a different angle and when they didn't materialize the way I'd hoped, I posted the audio of the three interviews.

Some interesting comments in there for sure. Fodder for forums on both sides, eh?"

Tip: Skip to 5 minutes into the podcast if you want to get right to the interviews. Some good comments from both Brands and Gilman.

Dicks always have faces. Much respect coach
Is that the best you have. If you are going to bash the kid when he makes bad decisions at least acknowledge when he is giving due respect. Maybe you just don't know what makes Gilman tick

I enjoyed the comments from Gilman. He also interacted with several fans from both teams after the dual. Signing autographs along the way for kids. He really does seem like a good person.

I don't care for his huddle theatrics but I also enjoyed MN guys guarding it. Either way it brings emotions out and that is a positive thing. Wrestling could use some drama from time to time.

He mentioned multiple times the home team should announce their wrestler first.. and that is why Gilman goes into the huddle?
Unless memory fails, Gilman was announced second in Iowa against Brancale and was still in MN huddle.

In that interview. Brand's voice did not sound confident. He sounded unsure of Gilman...but he probably didn't want another future type Ramos fallout
I have known Tom for a long time and he sounded just like he ALWAYS sounds, CONFIDENT and DIRECT. How long have you known him to be the unbiased expert? I'm thinking you don't do well with geography either.

Lizak had Gilman on the ropes. 2/3 of the way to a stupendous upset win. And it got away from him He must have been crushed. And yet he stood up, looked Gilman straight in the eyes and shook hands. Didn't act all pissed off and barely give a slap of a handshake like some guys do after a loss.

Stood there like a man and faced his opponent who just had a miraculous comeback against him. Much respect to Lizak. Looks like a standup kid. I expect he will do well the rest of the year.

Guessing some posters could learn a lesson from Lizak.

So What!!!! we really don't give a crap what you think. Don't come into our huddle here unless it's positive stuff.
Just pointing out that it pokes holes in Brands theory that he only runs in because he is announced first.

Thanks for the welcome Stanley.

That stare from Lizak at the end of the match was straight frustratious rage. Think Lizak was ready to throw down until he actually heard what Gilman said to him which was "good match"

I am pretty versed in Pinters and don't believe he was knocking Gman.

Pinters is a Linguist with the Smithsonian as I have stated before. He is an expert in several fairly obscure dialects of gibberish.

OT; He is also the personal translator of Trump's tweets to Putin. So careful what you say to him if you don't want a fatal case of Plutonium poisoning.

Just saying.........

At 125 he is announced first for most matches. That is not a theory just a fact. Now if he weren't announced first for almost every match you may have an argument. If you expect a friendly welcome don't come on an Iowa wresting forum and start disrespecting the Iowa coaches and wrestlers. This forum is about Iowa wrestlers not your agenda of trying to point out faults.

Just too small minded to get where our man Pinters is coming from...yo

This is for you Big P:

"Gilman says haha and they caught a big whale"

"If all the animals along the equator were capable of flattery, then Thanksgiving and all the other holidays would fall on the same day."

He is announced first at most home matches? Is that what you are stating? Was he announced first at home in Carver Hawkeye when he wrestled Sam Brancale?

I don't need a warm welcome. I am a big boy and know where I am. Wasn't aware I was disrespeckin', my b dawg.

Why even mention it then? What weight do most matches start at? Keep in mind Gilman is our 125 lber. What weight did they start at when Gilman wrestled Sam Brancale? That was about 4 seasons ago. I have no idea. Gilman lost that match, you did some digging to find that loss!!! Like I said your agenda is pretty obvious and not welcomed here. We call that trolling and trolls get banned, is that your intention?

It is called sarcasm.

I think You are confused. I am not talking about 125 as a weight class being announced first.

I am talking about when the 125 pounders are announced for each team. Does Iowa announce the opposing team's 125 wrestler first and then Iowa's 125 wrestler second? (This is how it is done most places based on my experience)

Tom says if you don't want Gilman in your huddle announce him last. Which is why I ask what order he is announced at home? If he is anounced last, that contradicts Tom's theory. If he is announced first, then Tom doesn't take his own advice. Again only talking in terms of the Brancale match cuz I know he went into the huddle. For all I know that is the only time he has done it in Carver.

I am not talking about the results of either match. I am talking about the explanation for why he runs into the opposing team's huddle. He ran into the huddle during both Duals. One home and one away.

If this is trolling I suck at trolling.

Are you two on the same page?
Seems like one is talking about being either the 1st or 2nd '125 lber' announced, and the other is talking announced order down the roster from 125 to Hwt?
Or maybe you both have me confused. I hate being lost during a good ole fashion message board pisser:confused:

Thanks for proving that Gilman and the Hawkeyes have always and will always live in a gophers head rent free for eternity. Never seen a fanbase cry and whine over such a minor thing. If Lizak doesn't like it then He should get his ass to the center before he is announced. Everyone knows it's coming.
Things must be rough in gopherland when your highlight involves your guy getting pinned.

We talkin' about a huddle? (Says Allen Iverson)

Absolutely not on the same page. He said "Tom said" I said "who cares"!!! Now that is two different sheets of music not just pages. Bottom line is Gilman went into the goofers huddle a couple of times. So what? That is pretty much how Tom summed it up. Mountain out of a mole hill stuff.

Sorry for engaging in a convo. Not sure I was crying or whining at all. Just asking for some clarifications. Thanks for not answering any of my questions.

Hawkeyes don't live in my head. Wrestling is just always on my mind.
