GMC vehicles “crab walk”

FWIW, google AI says this:

“Rear wheel steering, when used for lane changes, allows the rear wheels to turn slightly in the same direction as the front wheels at higher speeds, enhancing stability and making lane changes smoother and more controlled by minimizing the risk of oversteering; essentially, it helps the car change lanes more precisely and safely.“

When turning a corner, I suppose the rear wheels would swivel in the opposite direction from the front, as the rear “wheelman” does on an articulated fire engine. This would seem to have far greater utility.

It’s a feature that I’ve used a few times on a telehandler back when I operated for a masonry contractor. It can help get you into tight areas.

I see no need for it on a truck though.
