shooting 5-18 from the field, 1-7 from 3 early. Not that UCLA is doing any better, but is anyone really surprised with this...

Ugh and Iowa was just fine once their super hot streak stopped. (although it didn't wane much in the 2nd half either) One of those bad timing games.

Gonzaga is one of the best teams in the nation and one of the most efficient offensively. When you don't play defense against them like the hawks didn't in the first half they will make open shots. I don't really understand the point of this thread.

Karnowski is a hell of a player. What a team like Iowa could do with a strong post player like that.

Dome shooting. It has an effect.

Notice the second half they ditched the outside game and pounded it at the hoop.

Doesn't matter because Gonzaga will lose to Duke. Lanky Wiltzer only scored 10 points against UCLA. I predict he'll score 6 against Duke.

Congrats to Gonzaga for making the Elite 8, but now it's time to bow out.

I don't understand all the animosity towards the Zags from this board. What's your reasoning? They are an elite team and I would think, if anything, Hawks fans would want to talk them up to make the loss not look as bad. I tried telling people that the Zags were for real on here a few weeks ago and I was balked at. Don't let previous tournament appearances cloud your judgement of their team this year.

They are a good team, don't get me wrong. I think they are as solid as they have ever been. They have 4 players that score double digits.

The problem is they are running into Duke. I know they made Iowa their B!tch last weekend, but Duke has 3X the athletes that Iowa/UCLA have. These kids are insane good and they will not be flustered by the Zags height or size.

Who is Bell gonna guard? Whoever has Wiltjer is gonna attack. Okafor will pull Karnoskeineir out away from the basket and force him to guard him.

Duke will be too powerful and too good for the Zags.

The Zags are gonna give Dukey all they want and more.
They have the inside game and skill to hang and I really like Sabonis. That guy is gonna be a beast for the next few years if he sticks around that is. He has NBA written all over him just like his papa.
If Gonzaga is knockin down threes Duke better look out. This could get very interesting....

The problem with the Zags is they play well unless they run into a physical team. Duke will be all over them. Gonzaga's big men won't be able to bail them out this time.

It's true that the Zag's big men are the key to their success. But there are 2 of them with pro quality and only one Okafor. And Utah's similar-type center Poelti did have some success against him, going 10/8 vs Okafor's 6/8. Gonzaga really just needs to have enough presence inside to force looks outside- then it clicks. They also have Wiltjer to counter Winslow and a veteran backcourt. Duke only won by 6 vs Utah. It's too close to call so I'm going with the veteran team vs the one that starts 3 freshmen.

Exactly right. They will be better adjusted to the background for the next game. Gonzaga will need to spread the court and play inside out to beat Duke, but it is definitely possible. I think Notre Dame beat Duke twice. I see this as a close game to pick, maybe 55% Duke.

Maybe you are right (i.e. Duke will win), but if Wltjer strokes 10/12 from field and 4/6 from behind NBA 3pt line like he did vs Iowa, then they are tough to beat. That beat down they gave Iowa was equivalent to Iowa vs Davidson. Men vs boys.

Wiltjer shot 47% from 3pt line on the season---that is incredible. Pangos also is elite 3pt shooter. Then they have two guys In post that actually know what do what to do when they get the ball in low post. I don't think Gonzaga looks that good defensively., so that is their weakness.

I don't care if Gonzaga wins or loses nor do I care for Duke, but Gonzaga, Duke, Wisconsin, and Kentucky look to be he
best 4 teams from eyeball test.

I would include Arizona in the top group behind Kentucky, with Notre Dame as a threat because their offense has really been on a roll. The Wisconsin-Arizona and the Duke-Gonzaga games both should be fun to watch. If ND is still clicking, KY-ND could also be interesting. I view the MSU-Louisville game as a lower level of teams, but they are pretty evenly matched.
