After first day of Div. III National Tournament. Wartburg in first place followed closely by Augsburg 1.5 pts behind. Wartburg has four in Semis and four alive in consolation bracket guaranteed AA status. Regardless of final outcome really impressive season for a team that went into the season ranked outside the top ten.

Should Wartburg win, it will be the 59th national intercollegiate championship won by an Iowa school - with #60 coming next weekend.

(FWIW - Oklahoma is second with 48.)

Though it isn't quite to "massive collapse" level you're right. They had a huge opportunity to take command and then lost all 5 of their conso semi matches. Incredible. They lost 7 straight at one point.

Really?! How am I an asshole? I have been watching them since Friday and yes they "blew it" "shit the bed" or whatever. They had a chance to win it this morning and at one time lost 7 matches in a row!!!! I don't know what happened but I watched at least 3 matches they should have won. I am sure no one feels worse than they do so call me whatever you want but it sucks because they were in control.
