Good parenting, poor parenting, not my fault?

At bar trivia.

16yo NDallasKid calculated the halftime score.

69.

NdallasKid lets out a "niiiiiice!!"

Then realizes that it was out loud.

She was very embarrassed that I heard her.

It's that a reflection on our parenting? Or is it just expected that a 16yo would find it humorous?

For the record I laughed, which I think made it more uncomfortable.

Great parent if that’s the first time you’ve heard or seen something like that from your child at 16 years old. They have so many other influences beyond your control

It is. I've taken her to see Anthony Jeselnik and Bert Kreischer, and she's been to rock concerts and seen R rated movies. She's always been so careful not to let on what she knows!

Should have played dumb like you didn't get it and asked her what was funny about that.

Also, you have your kid in a bar making 69 jokes. And she can add up to 69 so I think you are doing okay.

We did pretty well, for it just being the two of us. We only missed 2 of 22 questions.

Her? Lol. Was not expecting that!
Yup. Apparently "niiice!" Is a fairly common joke amongst her and her peers, as it is wth everyone else. It's just that she's usually a lot better at making sure she doesn't let on to us that she gets the joke. It was funny.

Russ,

If it's any consolation, my son says the same thing. He's only 12 but has been doing it for almost a year. I giggle every time.

The fact she was embarrassed by what she said is an indication that you're probably a good dad.

Maybe one day, my son will visit the mid-Atlantic region and see Dakota (I assume that's your daughter's name) in action at the club.

Your daughter is doing the dirty. But it's ok, we all loved the girls in high school who did. You're doing great in my book.

If you think todays 16yo don’t know what 69 is you are extremely naive. Of course they know what it is. They’re going to no matter how sheltered you try and keep them. They learn that shit from friends or classmates. It has no reflection on your parenting skills. If you’re looking at Gtown for her future, sounds like you’ve raised an extremely intelligent young lady that you should be proud as shit of. Whatever you’re doing, OP- keep doing it.
