Ruby Tuesday closing 95 restaurants
Posted: Aug 12, 2016 2:41 PM CDTUpdated: Aug 12, 2016 2:42 PM CDT

MARYVILLE, Tenn. -
In part of what the company is calling a “Fresh Start Initiative”, Ruby Tuesday has announced that it plans to close approximately 95 restaurants by next month.

According to a news release from the chain, the decision is the result of a recently completed comprehensive review of its 646 corporate-owned restaurants.

Ruby Tuesday, which has locations in Austintown, Canfield and New Castle, did not publish a list of the restaurants it intends to shut down.

A company statement says they will reveal the closing locations in the next few days.

In the past quarter, total revenue for Ruby Tuesday declined 5.9%

My son is a college student and makes good tip money at. Ruby Tuesday. He doesn't think it's his store though.

Do any TGI Fridays still exist?

Ate at one in Merrillville, Indiana once. It really wasn't that good.

I just had all you can eat apps for $10 at the Dallas airport at TGI Fridays last week. Obviously not increddible food, but awesome happy hour.

The worst is we get their adds in Des Moines when I think the closest location is in Minneapolis

GOOD!!!! I quit doing business with Macy's when they quit selling Trump ties. Used to do a lot of biz with them. When they told me what to think politically I told them to eff themselves.

I'm glad they are struggling.

Yup and way to many colored people in their ads.

Bennigans is gone too. Seems that style place has fallen out of favor.

Bennigans was never all the way gone. All the corporate-owned stores closed in 2008, but some of the franchises held on. An investment company bought the brand in 2015, and they're staging a comeback. The same company is trying to resurrect the Steak and Ale brand, too.

All of the chain sit down restaurants for poors can disappear as far as I'm concerned: Ruby Tuesdays, Applebee's, TGI Friday's, Olive Garden, Perkins, Red Lobster, Bob Evans, Outback, etc.

I can't believe people eat that garbage.

Yeah, they just built one close to where I live in Addison, Tx. Strangely, they bulldozed an existing TGIFriday's across the street and built the new one on the site that once had a Chaamp's Sports Bar. Doubt I'll ever go there.

Poor people don't eat there. A dinner for two with a couple of drinks and an appetizer will get you over $50.

I don't follow. If you can get a meal with appetizer and drinks for only $50, you're obviously eating at a crappy restaurant and likely cannot afford decent food. I think you just made my point for me.

Or you live in the middle of nowhere, devoid of modern civilization.

I spend a lot of time traveling for work and try to seek out the mom and pop places that the locals like. Usually, they're great, but sometimes, not so much. And it's not always possible or convenient to go where the locals go, so I do appreciate that there are these types of places where I know what to expect when grabbing a quick bite.

A burger at such places is ALWAYS better than the fast food crap.

The poor people eat at McDonalds, etc. Not sure what your idea of poor is. Most people don't eat at Gibson's Steak House.

$50 ?? I live in ritzy glam central and don't pay that

No, that's true.

Mrs. Tradition (no pics) and I recently went to Olive Garden because someone gave us a $50 gift card and after a few beers/glasses of wine and two dinners it cost us the card plus $10 with the tip included.

Champs in Addison? I doubt it. We ran into each other at Wizards in Richardson, which is more of a pool hall. There have been a few game watch locations, but I don't think Champs was ever one of them.
I don't recall there being a Champs in Austin. The bar attached to the bowling alley was something like the Texas Sports Bar. It moved after I did, so you'd have a better grasp on where it went.

The dsm location is packed whenever we go, probably twice a year. The salad bar is really good and they welcome young kids.

yeah, that thing was an old disco bar inside the bowling alley, with a circular bar and DJ booth. then they remodeled it. then they closed the bowling alley. now they all go to some really high class place in the dominion, way above my pay grade.
