As far as I know, it's the first one I've had. Slammed my head into the ground playing rugby and a sharp, loud noise briefly sounded off in my ear. Went through the testing stuff with the trainer and it was deemed to be a grade 1 (minor) concussion. I wasn't really too dazed, but knew that wasn't a normal feeling.

Anyone here have any concussion stories?

Opening kickoff against postville in 1995. I was a gunner and looking at the runner, missed a big dude headhunting me and he knocked me out cold. I was later told I was doing sit-ups and push-ups on the sideline, remember it a little bit. I begged to play and played the first half. I just remember feeling like I was in slower motion. Qb threw a pass and it bounced off my facemask. I guess I was saying all sorts of weird stuff in the huddle. At half the coaches decided I better sit, was later taken to the hospital.

I crashed my bike hard when I was 12. After it happened my buddies helping me walk it to the arcade and then I rode home after.

About three hours later I couldn't remember anything. The crash or what happened until I got home.

I lost a whole day after hitting my head on the gym floor in 6th grade. No idea what happened until about 9 that night. Got another one about 3 years later in gym. I never lost memory about it but got sick anytime someone tried to talk to me.
I'm not a huge fan of PE in school anymore.

I was playing sandlot football in high school and squared up against a kid two and a half times my size. I dropped him, but I had darkness kind of wash across my vision. I'm not sure if I ever lost consciousness. If I did, it was only for a quick moment. I bounced back up and kept playing. I'm not positive this was a concussion, but it sounds like it from what I've heard and read about them since then. I'm guessing is was probably a pretty low grade concussion if it even was one.

Damn, that couldn't have been fun. You see that stuff happen in games, but I'm guessing you can't imagine what is really going on until it happens to you.

Postville used to have some great teams in pretty much all sports. What HS did you attend?

Level 1...amateur

I got a few. Including one where I knocked my self out cold in softball and had the kind where they pupils are all different sizes and parents had to wake me up every two hours to make sure I didn't die.

Probably explains my posts

Woah... line drive to the dome?

Got bucked off a horse when I was about ten, fell flat on my face on a cinder track. I don't remember anything from the next twelve hours, broke my nose quite badly, and was picking cinders out of my face for the next year.

Playing basketball, got tangled up on a lay up, hit my head on the steel tube support - playground style hoop. Hit my head but good; split it open too. Was stone cold out for a few minutes they said. In ER and hospital room rest of day for stitches and a scan, and released in the morning. Nurse came by and woke me up to ask me my name and where I was all night (disappointed because all the scrambled porn movies when I was that age involving a nurse waking a patient up had far better plots and endings).

Sunlight bothered me for most of the month. Slept in old man chair for a while to avoid lying down. Felt very foggy for a solid month - kind of like that feeling where you wake up dehydrated and unsteady after a big drinker.

Baseball bat to the head. Never went to the hospital, but I had one.

Glad it was minor.

It's not so bad if you have a good family on your side. I very regularly wake up not knowing where I am
So . . . we could tell you you're in a post-apocalyptic America that's been taken over by right wing crazies and you'd believe us?

Then you'd turn on the news . . . and you'd still believe us.

If you were serious about not knowing where you are when you wake up, how long does that last?

I got my bell rung going across the middle. I saw stars and remember hearing the trainers say I seem out of it, but I hope to get that fvcker back in the second half.

I got one in HS playing football. I was running a slat route and lets just say I got lit up. It made the local TV stations as hit of the week (now I think the DB would get a penalty) he knocked me good. I went to the sideline and our school was so small we didn't have an athletic trainer on site. Some dad who was an EMT came down and talked to me and told me I was fine (this happened long before the concussion tests). So I went back into the game and played the rest of the game both ways.

The scary thing was I couldn't remember anything about the game. I couldn't tell you who won or anything. I went to sleep that night with a pounding headache and it lasted it seemed for 4-5 days after. Now looking back I may of had a concussion, don't know the EMT said I was fine so I went with his word.
