So that was my voice you heard on the Chick-fil-A commercial during the Grammy Awards telecast. I am donating every dime that I make from that ad to Lambda Legal, the largest national legal organization working to advance the civil rights of LGBTQ people, and everyone living with HIV. Admittedly it’s not the millions that WinShape has given to organizations that define marriage as heterosexual. But instead of them replacing my song with someone else's and losing this opportunity to strike back at anti-LGBTQ forces, I decided to spend the cash in direct opposition to "Check"-fil-A’s causes – and to make a public example of them, too. We’re going to take some of their money, and pay it back.

Good for her. I honestly was envisioning Grace Jones when I read the story. Both of them are now obscure music figures that not many people remember.

That will show them. A broke dork from hrot and a nobody from the music biz.

Actually, that's the perfect couple. Good work.

Does this mean that Chic-fil-A will catch the gays and start opening on Sundays?

Dumb. The company still derived more value from her participation than her cause will derive PR from this stunt.

Good LAWD you a-holes suck with rules.

One of my sons goes to WinShape camp every summer and loves it. He also loves to eat at Chik Fil A

That reminds me, Chi-Fil-A has phenomenal customer service if you have young kids. It's a winner for us for sure. We'll go there this weekend, thanks for posting and reminding me!

Did you know if you say "thank you," they have to say "It's my pleasure?" See how many times you can get them to say it this weekend when you go there.

Ate at a Chic-Fil-A near Ft Lee about 10 years ago, only time I've eaten there. Has it gotten better? Because it was average back then.

Ironically I'm eating chick fil as I read this (stupid) thread. Got 10 grilled nuggets in my 8 count pack, feel like a king.

Yeah. I thought her view was interesting, but I wasn't totally convinced.

If we assume they would just have paid a different artist if she had rejected them, then her way is somewhat better. But she also risks giving her imprimatur to homophobic religious bigots.

I sort of wish she hadn't but I'm also sort of glad to have that conversation.

I dunno. If I eat at Chick-fil-a it’s because they have above average food for a fast food joint, not because of some shitty Starship song from the 1980s.

Cons are saying the food is great to pretend that they have a market-based reason to support institutionalized homophobia.

In their world view supporting child pornographers would be OK if they made good fried chicken, or good pizza, or whatever. Priorities, you know.

Lol, that’s some mighty reckless extrapolation for a Friday afternoon.

What part did I get wrong?

I mean we've had plenty of cons, right here on HROT, who made a point of saying they eat Chik-fil-A because of its homophobic stance.

I don't really have a problem with that. I eat Ben & Jerry's ice cream partly because I like their politics. Fortunately, the ice cream is quite good. So I don't have to pretend to eat it because it's good.

I will still rewatch K-PAX despite Kevin Spacey's bad behavior It's a great flick. I might not watch the next thing he makes. Then again, I might.

Before we dive into the child pornography claim, let’s explore your claim that plenty of cons make a point of saying they eat at Chick-fil-a specifically because of their homophobic stance. Please cite some names and examples.

Good grief. You post here a lot. You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Is this your way of saying you can’t cite any examples? I just scanned through the 3 or 4 most recent threads in which Chick-fil-a was mentioned, including a 4-page thread on favorite chain restaurants. Several people mentioned CFA as their favorite fast food but none of them even mentioned their politics, let alone claimed it as the main reason they eat there.

Perhaps there are some posters who eat there specifically because of CFA’s stance on gays, but I’m going to leave it to you to back up your own claim.

I eat there cause my kids LOVE it, and unlike most other fast food i can actually tolerate it once in awhile. Plus its always clean, staff is always nice. Has NOTHING to do with politics. Tried their chicken soup the other day though and it was awful
