C - Asbjorn Midtgaard - 7', 270 pounds - Stats - 14 PTS, 9.9 REB, 0.7 AST, 70.6 FG%
C - Alessandro Lever - 6' 10" 235 pounds - Stats - 13.3 PTS, 5.4 REB, 1.7 AST, 39.2% 3P
G - Jovan Blacksher Jr - 5' 11" - Stats - 11.9 PTS, 3.7 REB, 5.7 AST, 1.6 STL, 32% 3P
G - Mikey Dixon - 6' 2" - Stats - 8.5 PTS, 2.1 REB, 1.4 AST, 27% 3P, 38.7% FG Percentage
F - Oscar Frayer - 6' 6" - Stats - 6.5 PTS, 2.5 REB, 1.9 AST, 35.3% 3P
F - Gabe McGlothan - 6' 7" - Stats - 5.8 PTS, 5.3 REB, 28.6% 3P.
G - Sean Miller-Moore - 6' 4" - Stats - 4 PTS, 2.7 REB, 1.6 AST, 50% FG Percentage

Those are the main players, one of their guards I didn't list because they seem to be injured but was a key backup. Blacksher is their top guard and is a streaky shooter, Lever seems to be a Jack Nunge clone and Midtgaard is a load.

I don't know how well they play defense and how their offense operates but I am hoping someone here will be able to flesh this out for us here.

Nunge would be a nice to have against teams with height and weight. Especially upper classman. ☹️

Dammit, this is the exact type of team I didn't want to see Iowa face. Sticky guards, big inside. We'll be 12.5 to 13.5 favs, but this is a tough game. In actuality, it's a tough draw for Iowa. How healthy Iowa is will determine how they do, hi CJF!

It won’t be a walk in the park. They have great tradition. Won the NAIA title 3 times. Qualified for D2 tournament 11 times. I think they turned D1 in 2012-13.

You missed the point about sticky guards. The bigs and smalls go together.

oh no sticky guards from Grand Canyon this isn't Curbelo. It's friggin Grand Canyon.

And I was speciffically referring to your "big inside" point. If they were good they wouldn't likely be playing at Grand Canyon. It's like if the Cubs faces the Myrtle Beach pelicans. Sure the pelicans pitcher throws hard, doens't mean he's likely to throw a shutout against a big league lineup.

There is such a drop off talent wise between a school between iowa and Grand Canyon. Sure there are upsets. But, the vast majority 1s and 2 win by about 12.

Watching their games with ASU and Nevada right now. This is not high quality basketball. Guards are pretty undisciplined but are athletic. Their point guard (blacksheer) is Joe T sized, can’t shoot a lick (25 percent 3) but can get to hoop. He plays the whole game. Jbo will have size advantage to shoot easily.

They seem that they will be happy to get in a running game with us. Luka should be able to beat their guy down the court. Their 4 (Labor) doesn’t seem that skilled to me.

Announcers mentioned their 2 and 3 guards are very streaky. Their big guy (Mitgaard) needed frequent blows but this was also preseason.

I think Joe W and KM could feast on these guys. Either open shots in zone or Joe will have mismatch in post in man.

Seem to be mixing man with 2-1-2 zone as they have 2 big guys that aren’t nimble.

Interestingly they played Illinois on GCUs court last year. How did that game get scheduled?? Their student section puts ours to shame. iLL was only up 4 at half, 4 pt game with under 3 to go before finally separating in final minute to win by 12. This was without the big guy they added this year.

This team has played many P5 level clubs and competed.

Thanks for the info

It was a return game after playing in Illinois the year before. MOre importantly, Illinois played at Ariona two days later. No non-conference tournament for them in 2019, so it was a chance to go play on the road a bit. (and remember Illinois was comig off like a 12-20 season in 2018-19)

How are you watching the games? Are they on YouTube or something? I wouldn't mind checking them out as well.

Sure but as we know that ILL team had some talent, I’m sure they weren’t gelled as a team yet but GCU gave them a game.

I remember them as a really good NAIA program way back in the day.
