Grapple on the Gridiron Wrap up

I gotta say. I did feel a bit spoiled. What a perk to be an Iowan with the Hawkeyes in the backyard! Grapple on the GridIron, Big Ten Tourney, and than Olympic Trials than who knows what! I'm sure Eustice and Brands will think of something else. Always raising the bar here in Hawkeye Country!

when they were interviewing the a.d. on tv he gave Eustice credit for his work on this event. I thought that was cool and well deserved.

Agreed ^^. While there were a few "growing pains" type of issues with this massive event...it was still a major, major accomplishment and a real feather in the cap of all of the people that played a part in preparing for it. In particular, Luke Eustice deserves major props for pulling this off as well as they did.

Think about it...that one meet had as many people, if not more, in attendance as a whole regular season's worth of attendance for Iowa...and Iowa often is the leading wrestling attendance team in the nation.

Another angle to consider...even just a few days beforehand the attendance looked like it might be in the 25k-30k range...still a massive wrestling event...but they went well past that and ended up with over 42k....or another 12k-17k more people than they thought a couple of days in advance of the big day. Just handling that "delta" of say 15k would have been a very noteworthy accomplishment...but to have that "on top" of the expected 25k is pretty crazy.

Again, major congrats to Eustice and everyone that made that come together, it really was an impressive accomplishment...super job!

Hats off to Luke, indeed. He does a ton of work behind the scenes and never goes looking for recognition. Great wrestler in his own right, and a great Hawkeye still.
