and @unoHawkeye almost got himself a 2 week break!
I was looking forward to it too. Now I have to keep hanging out here with all you guys 😞and @unoHawkeye almost got himself a 2 week break!
Crazy to think that we were without scoring help from Fredrick and only 8 points from Garza and we still win by 30I was looking forward to it too. Now I have to keep hanging out here with all you guys 😞
I hope Iowa fans are appreciating Luka, JBo and Weezy because all 3 are likely gone after this season@Franisdaman Wieskamp taking over as a primary scorer and hunting his shots the past couple of games has helped a ton imo. Takes a lot of pressure off of Luka
Joe could really boost his stock by coming back for one more year and being a go-to guy, but could just be wishful thinkingI hope Iowa fans are appreciating Luka, JBo and Weezy because all 3 are likely gone after this season
here's all 13 made 3'sNot sure if it is MSU being really bad or Fran recognizing they needed to mix things up, but it looked like guys were more active on offense than they have been. At least 3 back doors for layups, guys moving the ball faster, Garza seemed to recognize when double teams were coming and made quicker decisions. When Iowa moves the ball like they did today they are a tough team to defend.
Connor is not only a dominant scorer, he is the cashier, passing out dimes.
And listen to Gus Johnson's reaction.
Watch:
they referred to it as a bowling motion; perfect descriptionGus: "What a pass".
Remember when Gatens went off his senior season? The most awesome thing about this game? Win by 30 against a (usually) good team on the road. Jbo didn't go off, Luka wasn't really Luka, and CJ wasn't even dressed. It shows how good this team can be when they play hard on both ends. Hope it can continue.
That may be more likely than you think. He's a solid player; not sure if ready for NBA yet.Joe could really boost his stock by coming back for one more year and being a go-to guy, but could just be wishful thinking
If he plays nearly as well as he has been in the postseason, he’ll be a second rounder imoThat may be more likely than you think. He's a solid player; not sure if ready for NBA yet.
Gentlemen,
IOWA played M2M the entire game (except for some inbound plays) and limited 3Pt FG%, OFF redounds, 2pt FG% 34%, while winning rebounding by 9.
this might show that IOWA doesn’t need Garza or CJF to win, rather, they can win with defense and rebounding and playing inside out (Nunge 6 A, Garza 1A) to set up 3pt FG%.
to me this represents a huge change in strategy by Fran, emphasizing defense via M2M, emphasizing interior D (with Nunge and garza playing together) and we see how well it worked limiting homestanding tMSU to < 60 pts.
this sort of defense can carry iowa
Nunge was spectacular. He might be 6th man of the year.
