Seriously? He tore up his knee in practice before the tournament. It was amazingthat he wrestled at all.
But he still quit on his team, coaches, family and fans.

If you’re hurt take the medical forfeit after you’re eliminated. It’s common sense. Well Lee and Kerk weren’t eliminated but the only reason to wrestle is to maybe get some more team points and both couldn’t impact the placing of their teams.

In this case, yes, I am pretty confident those that ripped into Lee pretty damn hard remember it quite well.
With that said, your take is exactly what I said back then and how I feel about Kerkvliet. I just love to point out hypocrisy(one thing I try really hard to actively avoid doing myself, even though that is essentially impossible)and this is a prime example...
To be clear, this is directed at those that went after Lee for it and NOT, in any way, directed at Kerkvliet himself . I am 100% good with defaulting out in both cases. The benefits simply did not outweigh the risks. I just find it funny that people can explain away one while endorsing the other...

I was wondering the same thing. No malice toward Kerk, he was hurt, but who is to say Spencer wasn't, or he decided to save himself for the next freestyle competition coming up shortly after NCAA's. And all the people making fun of his mom for tearing up her glasses in her moment of grief. Cruel world we live in.
No way Kerk beats Hendrickson in that tournament, healthy or not. Gable handled Hendrickson before too. He is a different wrestler this year.
Hendrickson appeared to be bigger, stronger, and more athletic than even a healthy Kerk. Knee injury or not, Hendrickson beats him.
There’s a lot more important shit talking going on between various fan bases than Lee kerklivet Lolol. I live in Pa eagles fans and phillie fans are pretty busy and even those who are wrestling fans will treat the ball busting here as sat chocolate pudding versus brisket, Mac and cheese, and say Jalapeño poppers. And beer .
Lee versus kerkilvet is more like a cola flavored slurpee, very low on the priority list .
I certainly made a mental note of it. It was deplorable when psu fans made a big deal out of it, and I still feel that way, I said as much multiple times.
But, to answer your question, I’m not sure I read one comment bringing up the hypocrisy, or giving Greg a hard time about his forfeit. This board and the other are not alike.
There’s short and long term concerns . These guys are super competitive and really wanna win the title, but once they’re eliminated from that consideration, they might have to consider their overall health in the future.
I get it, initially I believe Lee should wrestle and I was counting on Greg to also wrestle. That is until I heard more about the medical conditions. I was just assuming both were healthier than they might’ve been.
That may very well be so, but, this one reeks of hypocrisy and is actually a topic that matters to me quite a bit..
In Pa we have pizza and cheesesteak battles and rivalries . Much more important than this topic. I eat daily. Finals are once a year .

Calling out Kerkvliet for defaulting to sixth is as stupid as calling out Lee for doing it. Nobody outside of those involved in that decision has any reason to judge. We’re not owed an explanation as fans.

Interesting. Did I even remotely mention anything about why he lost? It’s simply in his character make up that he refuses to diminish what Ramos accomplished and falls right into his excuses are for wusses.
But, that in no way has ANYTHING to do with his defaulting after. It also in no way gives the people that blasted him a pass. If anyone’s is moving goal posts it’s you and you aren t just moving them you completely fabricated new ones…

They all took the podium to their credit. Even Gable did and he didn’t show up for some time after everyone, including Wyatt, was on the stand. It was also fun to see AJ Ferrari kidding around with Buchanan and Kueter during and after heavyweight.
Did you have this stance when it was just Lee? Or has your opinion evolved?
You evidently are missing the point that PSU fans ripped Lee for defaulting, while no Iowa fans have done the same to Kerk
