Hall wins wrestle off, traveling with team

For those of us who are No-Flo-Pro, someone care to summarize? Are they saying he may wrestle tonight?

Pretty sure Cael does not want him to redshirt. If he did this issue would have been put to bed a long time ago.

From all accounts Hall & his Dad want to redshirt. My guess is Cael is trying to get him in a situation where the hype of an Iowa vs PSU dual in Carver will fire up Hall and make him forget about his and Caels "plan" of redshirting him.

A. Not surprised that Hall would win a wrestle off
B. I think Cael is just trying his hand at psychological warfare. He's just playing games

I believe both Cael and Hall want him to redshirt. Cael has always wanted it, and Hall after the loss to Brucki would have to redshirt for that to not count on his official record. He has stated in the past one of his goals is being a 4x undefeated champ. If he pulls his shirt this year that loss sticks.
 
I don't really understand the issue, apparently. In my calculation, the difference between hall redshirting or not would be vanity points for remaining undefeated, potentially for a career as well as the difference between maybe second place at nationals one year vs potential first place.

What would the point difference between an individual first and second place be? I don't think those few extra points warrant a redshirt, especially if one considers potential injury dtl.
 
Cael is the only undefeated 4 timer, correct? Since Hall already took a loss this season, red shirting will keep him in contention to equal that feat. Does Cael respect the aspirations of a guy who wants to equal his own college accomplishments or ask him to give up those dreams and help the team now? Lets all put on our tin foil hats, roll the Zapruder video tape and look at the conspiracy theory that Cael wants Hall to wrestle so he has a better chance at remaining the only 4 time undefeated champ.

Cael lost his redshirt year as a true freshman.

If Hall wrestles it is for one reason and one reason only--he feels they need Halls points to win nationals...

Who knows what will happen at nationals? Woud you rather go into a gunfight with, maybe enough ammo," or everything you can muster?

He has shown to be all about those extra points for his legacy. He did take a mulligan on his 1st high school state title attempt. He's not coming out of redshirt and if PSU come 15 or less points short of a title, the champs should send CJ Brucki a ring (or at least a tee shirt/cap). A shirt for a shirt:D

Is this really much different than Brands taking the bull with to SDSU and having him weigh in? Maybe Carl is just playing games, maybe he send him out, maybe he just wants him to get used to what it will be like in a place like carver. Hopefully the Hawks wrestle well enough up to the 174 to make Cale have to look down and think I have to pull the shirt or we will lose this dual.

Agree......Hall also traveled with team to Nebby & Minny......find it more interesting that he actually had a wrestle off with Morelli.

I will agree that is the part that seems very odd and why I wonder if it's just them trying to play mind games. Hopefully it was a fun wrestle off for both guys and that they got ice cream as a team afterward before singing campfire songs in the wrestling room.

Part of his agreement with the slush fund. He has to be given travel to all duals, even when not competing, so he feels special. ;)

Hate to hear about Stoll. I was looking forward to some fireworks tonight where everyone stays in their seats for the HWTs! Having lost Nevills to injury the past two years we as a fan base feel your pain especially when there is little available in most programs to have two quality big guys!

On the Hall making his debut tonight my take is that he keeps the shirt at least till after the BIG/NON-BIG duals where we most likely will face OSU. The rumor was that Mark won the wrestle off 3-2 and I don't think that warrants pulling his shirt at this time. Personally hope it stays.

Well played...I deserve it. I took offense to the tongue-in-cheek shot at Hall's age and shot off my mouth. That's what I get.

Does Carl base his decisions on what's best for the individual or what's best for his team or legacy? I mean if it wasn't about legacy he'd still be at ISU trying to win a title the ole fashion way right?
