I saw a technical called earlier in the year so I know it is still a T. In the Michigan vs Louisville game why no technical? I know they called the basket interference but if there EVER was a "hanging on the rim T" THAT was it!

He was asking what the rule was. Is it a technical or is it not? Pemsl was called on the exact thing earlier on a missed dunk for hanging on the rim and attempting to grab the ball. Don't be such a dickhead. Why do you want refs handing out more techs? It's giving a team free points at a crucial part in the game. They called basket interference, that's enough penalty. God you guys probably thought that was a good flagrant foul call in the Seton Hall-Arkansas game.

Agree. They should only call it if the guy swings back and forth a few times. Personally I couldn't care less if a guy wants to do a pull up, etc. FWIW I have thought Cook was pushing it a few times, but fortunately no call from the refs. The best way to not get a T is not to do it, though. Why do you want refs handing out more techs? It's giving a team free points at a crucial part in the game. It seems like they try to avoid calling that especially if there's another player coming in under them. Generally its called when a player pulls himself up on the rim or hangs for awhile. Unfortunately like so many violations, its open to the interpretation of the zebras, and their not very consistent on how they enforce it.Thank you coidfemans. If they want to get rid of the rule I'm fine with that but I've seen it called for lesser this year. I recall Aaron White getting T'd up for it also. This was about as blatant a case as you could get, used the rim to hang on so he could try to tip in his missed dunk. I want to know why it isn't a T. Can't say they "missed it" because they called basket interference.

God forbid someone ask a question on a message board. You need to get laid.
I don't remember another one but the one that pemsl got was because he touched the ball while hanging on the rim.Pemsl got called for it earlier in the year for Iowa.

No argument in the getting laid part. Hanging on rim should never be called a T. But you college bball fans want whistles everytime down the floor, you'd think I would know that by now.

I thought someone said he couldn't jump.Pemsl got called for it earlier in the year for Iowa.
I hear ya. I don't really think it should be a rule at all, but I was trying to say that, since it IS a rule, it should only be called for the most egggregious offenses. Then get rid of the rule that you can only hang on the rim to avoid injury (which we all know is not why they hang on it anyway) and call it something like a T for "unsportsmanlike"
