When is it too much?:

One of the great things about being a big-time college football coach is you get perks, and Jim Harbaugh is taking full advantage of his at Michigan as he should.

Harbaugh's contract includes a certain amount for private jets, both for business and personal uses. USA Today requested financial documents from Michigan from the time Harbaugh was hired in December 2014 through Aug. 21, 2015 and come up with some interesting tidbits.

The main takeaway: Harbaugh is spending a bunch of Michigan dollars on jets. A couple notes from the documents:

• Harbaugh spent more than $10,000 a day on private jets during a 12-day recruiting period in January 2015. He had just become Michigan's coach and had to go on a recruiting blitz across the country with Signing Day fast approaching. The total recruiting period cost Michigan $136,000 in jet travel.

• Aside from recruiting, Harbaugh spent more than $32,000 on private jets for personal use during the time period of USA Today's request.

Because records aren't available yet for January 2016, we don't know how much Harbaugh spent to reel in Michigan's loaded recruiting class this year. I hope it was at least $1 million, because a couple hundred grand isn't enough for the king of Ann Arbor.

Michigan should spare no expense in its quest to take back the Big Ten from Ohio State and Michigan State.

As long as he wins, I doubt they have much of a problem with his spending. Now if he slips a little, then there could be some grumbling coming from the school. Being a San Francisco 49er fan, I remember his first couple great years there, then the wheels fell off shortly after. Maybe the lug nuts will be loose on the Michigan wheels as well. :)

Harbaugh will wear out his welcome in Ann Arbor just like he has everywhere he's been. He'll have a few good years on this front end and then his act will get old. He's not one of the best coaches in this conference. Urban Meyer, Dantonio, and Ferentz are all better coaches than Harbaugh.

Michigan fans are in full Harbaugh worship mode. From coming in this board and saying "College Football experts, say Harbaugh up is the best coach in college football", to taking a take no prisoners attitude on their own board.

I got blasted from multiple Michigan posters when I went on their board and said,"I think the practices and camps that Harbaugh is doing out of state is genius, but the tree climbing and sleep over antics won't do much and if anything could turn off some recruits on the fence. Recruits won't come because of the antics but will go to Ann Arbor because it's Michigan, a chance to play earlier right now than at some other top programs, Harbaugh's coaching, and the program seems to be on an upswing".

They told me that I wasn't giving Harbaugh enough credit, I don't know anything about recruiting, and my use of the phrase seems to be on the upswing shows that I am in denial and afraid of Harbaugh and the Michigan program.

Lol. The arrogance is back.

Did I read Iowa spent a total of $132,000? Not sure what our aggregate was but it is undoubtedly pale in comparison.

Harbaugh just landed Dylan McCaffery...Pretty sure that name resonates on this board. Harbaugh keeps working. Time is almost up Bucks.

Without comparing to other schools, the data isn't very important.

So far Iowa is getting more bang for their buck in W's. That could change soon but I am one of the believers that Jimbo has a short shelf life. I see some Bo Pelini in him.

Get over it, Harbaugh is at Michigan and you have no say in the matter, regardless of spite, jealousy or animosity to the fact. In five yrs, you will be saying the same thing, Harbaugh will be gone in x yrs. Eventually, you will be right, he will retire.

You really have to lay out your reasoning here for me.

The thing is....if he continues to recruit like he's done so far....he'll continue to win. H only wears out his welcome if he has Hoke type seasons and I just don't see that happening. Too much talent....

He'll burn out before he wears out his welcome. I can see him leaving on his own within 5-8 years.

Well...I see three Harbaugh related topics on the first page of the board. So yes...obsessing

Unlike yourself, at least we're accepted by our peers and may have lives. Enjoy touching yourself today or whatever people without jobs do.

Riiiiiiiiiggggghhhhhhhhtttttttttttt.

Harbaugh getting the SEC coaches pissed off for practicing in their turf over spring break is worth getting him in the B10. It's nice to mess with these guys a bit. Iowa should do it and invite all their southeatern US recruits. I'm sure both of them would enjoy that.

True, Harbaugh us improving the talent level at Michigan. Meyer hasn't had a decent recruiting class since Harbaugh started to compete against him. The 2015 class is a waste of scholarships. The 2016 class was a disaster. And the 2017 class is void of talent. The Bucks will be lucky to have a winning record the next several years.
