Harrison Barnes

So if I'm doing my research right, Barnes could be the first player from Iowa to win the NBA finals since Matt Bullard in 1993-94.

I think you are right, part of a nice run of Armstrong, Hanson and then Bullard.

Wow, had forgotten about that run. Nice trip down memory lane. Forget how solid of a player Bullard was.

Yeah, his knee injury was just a shame with the potential the Hawkeyes had that year.

Iowa was not the luckiest team back in the Good Doctor's Days. Bullard's injury, Rodell Davis' injury, Street's tragedy and countless academic "shortcomings" by Iowa's elevated standards.

Add in that when we made the tourney, we ended up playing Duke a couple of times in the second round. And now I'm just complaining.

I know I'm missing countless other incidents. I simply listed what first came to mind.

I was surprised and disappointed in Barnes' shooting in the 4 games where I watched the 2nd halves of the Golden State/Houston series. He had a bunch of wide open 3 point shots and I didn't see him make a one. I thought he was touted to be a great shooter and I didn't see it, in the partial games I watched. The officiating in these games was poor at best, imo.

He shot 40% for the season from 3- top 20 in the NBA. He may not be shooting well in the postseason, but to say he isnt a good shooter because he missed someshots in the second half of a few games you watched is a stretch.

The officiating part, yes you are correct. NBA officiating is pretty terrible as a whole.

I agree on Barnes, if you just started watching GS this series you might think Thompson is a mediocre shooter because he went through a tough stretch.

Your comment on NBA officiating is interesting. They made some head scratching flagrant foul calls but they are 100x better than college refs and the game is way harder to officiate in the NBA.

I was going by what I was seeing from Barnes from 15 feet on out on wide open shots....didn't see him make one shot. The rest of his game during the times I watched were solid and very important given the height disparity in the paint vs. Houston. Apparently, he shot a good percentage during the season. GS is not scoring nearly as much in the post season either.

I was seeing fouls called when none were made and shooting fouls when the guy was fouled long before he ever got around to shooting. And yes some of the flagrant fouls were only regular fouls at best. But hey, its the NBA. I also found it disturbing how the NBA teams were turning the ball over right and left, like it was a ping pong ball going back and forth.

It was a shame that Clippers choked, they would have given the warriors a better series. Same with Spurs.

Rockets are kind of a joke.
