Has anyone adjusted their seat location?

Our scheduled time is this afternoon to select a new seat location. Has anyone done this? How did it go? Any tips?

I moved seats last week. It was staggering how many seats were open compared to last year. I wasn't going to renew, but figured it was a good chance to improve seats before the new coach arrives. You will have your choice of great seats.

Same thought process here. There were a ton of good seats open

Thanks. Choosing right now, between Row 29 and Row 39. I don't want to be too low, hard to decide...

Section 109, so on the sideline but near the South end zone. We went with row 29. Should be good enough. There were a bunch of options in the 18 to 22 range, those seemed too low.

A coworker renewed on Friday and was able to move up 20 rows. He was also using the idea that he would use this as an opportunity before a new coach brought life back to the program.

I agree, too low for my taste. I'm up tomorrow, it will be interesting, and disappointing, to see what availability I get. I "moved up" 11 rows at the last reseat.

Not to beat a dead horse but I will anyway, wouldn't this be a great marketing idea by the ticket office to encourage fans to renew? Nope. Too worried about what shirt colors for fans to wear.

Are you thinking of an idea like this: "There are plenty of open seats now that people have left, sign up now!"?

On another note: Anyone know when "new" purchasers get to choose? Or is it comingled with the returning. i.e. returning holders get their seat, but get put in line with everyone based on priority?

Exactly what I was thinking. While it might not look good on paper coming out of the athletic dept. that there are plenty of seats available, it could be looked at as the athletic dept. being proactive and maybe getting those sitting on the fence to renew or not to renew, as others have mentioned, to use this unfortunate situation with the team to improve their seats. Probably giving that brain trust too much credit.

Yes. I'm moving from the couch to the recliner. More direct view of the 65-inch HDTV, closer to the kitchen and the bathroom. No waiting. No seat fees. I'm in the top 20% of priority points, but that didn't matter, either. I'm still reliving the nightmares of the last few seasons in Kinnick. Don't have the heart to keep driving down there to see a program that often seems more important to me than to the guy who runs it.

I kept my seat. A recliner, big flat screen HD TV, and a beer. Best seat in the house. If I need to tailgate, I'll go out at halftime and twerk.

I used my season ticket money to buy an HD projector and 120" screen this year. I might even put toe warmers in my slippers for that Minnesota night game for old times sake.

Now that is a tempting idea. Even better, do it outside:

Surely, you must be misinformed. When I gave up my season tickets after the last re-seating, I was told repeatedly by a loud minority of people "Great! More for me!" Or "Now I can finally get tickets." Or "You won't be missed. There are several thousand people just waiting to get your tickets anyway."

Sooo, apparently these were not accurate predictions? Or those people were full of excrement. Plus, I've still gone to almost every home game ... but for about 1/4 the cost! At least. Which is about right. The product (Tailgating & Game Day Atmospheres, Marketing Saturation, Product On-the-Field) is worth about 1/4 the cost.

You know, you could just wait until the season starts for the official numbers. Couldn't wait to brag about how angry you are though, right?

Moved almost 30 rows closer. Probably will think I'm too close now. So it goes.

Wasn't as bad, empty-seat-wise, as I expected from some of the posts. 124 had about what it did last time I reseated. I'm sure the non-donor, or corners, had much more left.

My seats are between the 40's and there were 100's more empty seats to choose from compared to last year.

Interesting strategy. I think even with a bad year KF is still here next year. I gave up my seats but may get back in for that very reason next season. I also think that if a new coach is hired, there will be some slow return of people. Unless it is someone like Bob Stoops or some super high caliber coach (like Harbaugh to MI) I don't see people returning in droves.

I relocated yesterday. I was in section 130 row 60. Moved all the way up to Row 28. I am pretty excited about this. My question is row 28 to far down to see the whole field? I think it should be okay but if anyone can offer up some opinions I would appreciate it.

I sit in 28 or 29 on the other side of the field and it's just about perfect.

It's difficult to see the far end of the field on your sideline, but the view of the game when the ball is on your end of the field is spectacular.

Well worth the tradeoff, IMO.

this sounds like a sound strategy. although i would think that with the hiring of a new coach and the rise in interest in the program that it would also bring with it another reseating. meaning if you didnt up your donations to match the new people that they would be moving in and you would be moving back. if this were to happen then how would you feel about that? i also admit that i know very little about this whole process so my fictitious scenario could be impossible, im not sure. however i am sure someone will let me know if i am incorrect.

At least based on the last re-seats this is not happening soon. I would guess certainly not because of a new coach.

There really isn't as much movement, at least from what I've seen, especially not concerning donations. 2004 (or whenever it was) took care of that. There aren't people sitting on the 50 with few priority points anymore, if they were in danger of moving back, it has already happened.

And our comments are not on a "re-seating", this is just a yearly option to move up if you want to. We were still guaranteed our seats. Just so happens that there is a significant ability to move closer this year.
