Has Social Media made the world safer or less safe?

Social media seems to spread the word of jihad,uprisings and protests. But it also seems like it makes these things easier to track than before. Has it made the world more protected or less stable? *edit* Made it a poll

It's a good thing that obviously has dangers and can be abused. Like medicine. Up to us to figure out how to benefit from the good. So far, we're struggling. But I'm moderately optimistic.

It's not done much for common sense, but I'm not sure that it has made the world more or less safe. I guess you could argue predators could use it to lure kids, but at the same time it's given parents a tool for oversight of they use it and authorities a method of tracking and in some cases trapping said predators.

It has its advantages, but the risk is that it can lead to mob rule. It is highly prone to bad information. It is often motivated by emotions, especially anger and fear.
